Ouch. Penn State 2027 Recruiting Decline?

If 20.2 is the average number of points we gave up per game, why would it necessarily have been higher if we had played more games?

If we had played in a bowl game with our normal roster, we would have likely been matched up against a team that would not have been nearly as familiar with our defense as our regular season opponents. It's possible we would have held them at or below our season average. Regardless, the result of one game would not change the 20.2 average very much.
It's possible, but teams that generally make a bowl game do have a better offense and score more points. In the four games we lost last year, the defense was poor and the offense was worse. The defense didn't bother to show up at Cincinnati or against BYU

And that miserable Colorado debacle. Colorado was not a good football team. And nearly lost to an even worse Okie St team.

CMC and the boys cannot have ANY games like that this year…. that’s not handled well at Penn St.

Oh whatever. If it happened I'm sure it was after thousands of people claiming to be ISU fans called him garbage on social media. Everyone wants to point the finger and claim the other side fired the first shot when it comes to justifying hate in these situations. Who's got time for it. Just move on.
There are 4 million photos of Post Malone wearing an Iowa shirt in less than 48 hours.
I dont think I've seen a Brahmer photo in PSU gear.

Campbell like any new coach is going to get some leeway in his first year, how well he does against Michigan, USC and Washington will determine if his first year is a success or not. If they are sitting their 11-1 with the only loss to say Wisconsin and making the conference championship game, people will be fine.

This is the right take. A lot of people want CMC to fail which I totally get but lose track that PSU isn’t nearly as reactionary as people want to believe. If he has a bad loss against a weak opponent but gets a win over a highly ranked on the road that’s gonna be forgiven real quick.

Franklin was at PSU for a decade and accomplished very little. He won the games he was supposed to win and lost just about every game against equal or better opponents.

The main think Franklin could bring that CMC might struggle with is going to be the recruiting. With the classes Franklin was brining in you could always sell hope for the following season after another disappointing one. If CMC doesn’t bring in top 15 recruiting classes following this season he is going to be sitting on an inferno without some major results

NIL and the CFP were not a thing a decade ago. in this decade i think that fans expect more and expect it to happen faster.

Not really unless the school has insane expectations which PSU does not. If he can do what Franklin didn’t a pull down upsets or beat some top ten teams he will get a good amount of grace. That recruiting does have to pick up dramatically though from where it is.

i think you underestimate the PSU expectations a little.

I think you overestimate their expectations by a lot. Franklin was there for a decade with just one big ten title and zero impressive post season action. He would still be there if he didn’t lose to UCLA and Northwestern.

This isn’t LSU, Bama, or Ohio State. They are pretty patient as long as the results are good with solid recruiting hopes for the next year.

Not saying his seat can’t get hot quick if those things fail or a perfect candidate comes up as he was their 6th choice but it’s not like he has to win a natty

It was before anyone entered the portal

The fans since they paid his salary lol
I'm starting to think JP4CY is right anyways. He would have been on campus for about a week and a half after Campbell was hired and everyone was wondering who was staying or not. If any player was seen anywhere wearing PSU gear on campus there would be dozens of photos and it would have been plastered everywhere on social media. Definitely smells like BS. But even if he did does it actually make anyone feel any worse? He left for PSU. Who gives a **** if he wore a shirt before that or not?

The AD clearly said the expectation is a NC. This is the definition of insane being that they haven’t won one in close to 50 years.
Every ad says championships are the goal and expectation. It’s the job to build hype and set the tone. It’s classic AD/Coach speak. You lay it out yourself, it’s not realistic as it’s been 59 years. That’s why that expectation isn’t there.
