I usually am very into the Oscars, but this year not as much. Still some solid movies though...here are my predictions for the big categories tonight:

Best Picture: CODA (possibly Power of the Dog)
Best Director: Jane Campion (Power of the Dog) (spoiler would be Spielberg)
Best Actress: I'm going upset here and saying Penelope Cruz (Parallel Mothers) but could be Chastain or really any of the others. Closest race.
Best Actor: Will Smith (King Richard) even though I don't think he even deserved to be nominated
Best Supporting Actress: Arianna DeBose (West Side Story) Anyone else wins and it's a massive upset
Best Supporting Actor: Tony Kotsur (CODA) Spoiler would be Kodi Smit McFee (Power of the Dog)

My prediction is that a record low number of people are going to watch the Oscar's
I've tuned in before but I've also usually seen at least half the movies that are in consideration for a lot of awards. Kinda sad the only new movie I've seen this year is West Side Story since I randomly came upon it on Disney+

I’ve only seen Power of the Dog, Licorice Pizza, Coda, West Side Story, and Don’t Look Up…. and I’d vote for Coda probably. I enjoyed Don’t Look Up the most of those, but have a hard time saying it is Oscar worthy for some reason?

Licorice Pizza did nothing for me at all.

I feel like for being what looks like an indie type of movie I saw a lot of ads for licorice pizza last fall. I do want to see it.

Heard on NPR they are giving away a honorary oscar to be voted on during (?) the awards for most popular social media film or actor something like that. Can anyone clarify that for me?

Coda should win a bunch. PotD I pushed myself through, acting was great, but man did that movie drag for an unsatisfying ending. Meh.
Yeah, that movie has some deep themes, great acting, and I liked the twist in the end… but it felt like hard work slogging through it.

Would love to see CODA win picture but don't think it will. Guessing Power of the Dog. But I've heard that from here on out for any western up for consideration they're going to bring in Sam Elliott to give a final say of whether it's worthy or not.
