The virus understands college football conferences and won’t spread inside a conference vs outside?
good to know.
I love the sarcasm.

Meh, Vermillion is 400+ miles away from Sturgis and has a population of around 10,000 without students, plus they aren't on any major highway. I don't think they're going to be affected by the rally.
I don't get it. Is there really a significant benefit to cancelling non-conference games? ...
... I doubt it has anything to do with safety protocols and suspect it has everything to do with TV contracts, but if so, why not at least try for a full schedule?
I see the U of Iowa has only 9 games in their 'conference only' schedule.
Iowa State needs to cut two non-conference games; which one should be kept?

I don't get it. Is there really a significant benefit to cancelling non-conference games? The article linked above didn't include any of the reasoning behind it. The only thing I've heard is that it is less risky to play conference teams because we know that they will be able to maintain a consistent level of testing, etc. to mitigate the risk.
First, I think this is overestimating how well the Big 12 teams will handle their own responsibility. What about Baylor makes us trust them?
Second, what makes us think that non-conference teams can't do as much as us to mitigate risk? Many of these schools have outstanding medical schools and facilities, some better than ours.
I just don't get it. There must be some other reason, especially when the Big 12 turns against its own rationale by letting schools keep one non-conference games. I doubt it has anything to do with safety protocols and suspect it has everything to do with TV contracts, but if so, why not at least try for a full schedule?
All conferences plus Big 12 with 10 games keeps conference champion with probable No Losses. With no blemishes (say 10-1 or 11-1), that team can still be in the running for national champ. I think THAT is the only reason they went with 10 game season.
Quite frankly, I think the season will get cancelled two weeks in when positivity rates skyrocket in all schools, elementary through college.
You get a two week buffer in case bad stuff happens.
With 250,000 expected to attend Sturgis I'm taking SD off the schedule if I'm JP.
I see the U of Iowa has only 9 games in their 'conference only' schedule. Could it be that there are talks of allowing a 9+1 in the Big 10? If so, I think BOTH schools would benefit from the safety and financial gain to keep this in state rivalry going. It would require revision by the Big10. That would be difficult to come by, but I imagine that Iowa State would have fully researched the possibility before attending Monday's meeting.
The Big 10 released their schedule for all teams this morning, EIU has 10 conference games, their crossover games are Maryland, MSU, @OSU and @Penn. St.
After watching a couple weeks of fanless baseball, this seems like quite a welcome additionMinnesota is going to allow 1500 fans at home games.(No typo..not 15000)
Yikes. Better than the alternative I guessMaybe they will let every Iowa State season ticket holder attend ONE game.
