On to Kansas Week Thread

This is a gut check game for a few fronts:

- Defensive line: they somewhat got owned by Baylor. Not many pressures at all, not much for sack production minus the Orien Vance play. column.
Don't know how much it matters, but looks like Will got got credit for a half sack on that play?

Could see this being a Pick-em by gameday
The game is A SELL OUT....1st one in a very long time at KU...If Dekkers has another BAD DAY LIKE SATURDAY, Campbell & his staff are looking down the gun barrel of Kansas State and their new QB Adrian Martinez a transfer from Nebraska!
I watched KSU beat the Okies in norman and Martinez had a great game....

Well if we lose this one we'll be fighting for a bowl spot.

I'm optimistic that Dekkers and Manning learned from this week and the refs will be more competent.
If our Offensive Line doesn't give our running back a hole to run thru early on... KU will win this game and this ..."special group"...won't be so special anymore!!

Ya, refs just aren’t very good at their jobs. Just imagine working with the impunity at your jobs that refs have. No consequences, no reckoning or explanations required or given to anyone or anything. The worst thing that happens is you get demoted the next season to doing “less big” Big 12 games after a “performance review”.
They aren't the only ones that have jobs like that.

Lose this one and might turn into a we beat Iowa, but couldn't win in conference years. Opposite of the last 5 years or so. We will see. Gonna be another close one most likely.

Watch Kansas get double digit wins this regular season to add another kick to the nut cup

This is a gut check game for a few fronts:

- Defensive line: they somewhat got owned by Baylor. Not many pressures at all, not much for sack production minus the Orien Vance play. In order to beat KU we have to create more pressures, sacks, and an uncomfortable pocket for the Ku QB. Also, time to get back into the turnover column.
- Dekkers: how quickly can he shake off a loss? Big game for his ability to bounce back mentally
- WR room: Can Dmitiri Stanley continue to ascend? He looked good last week as did Noel. We need other receivers to step up when teams double Hutchinson. The deep post by Stanley was a pretty play and we need more and more of that. Stretch the field.
- O line: they need to protect Hunter. I'm not sold on the D line of Ku.

It was no secret that Baylor had the best offensive and defensive lines in the country coming into Saturday.

They looked pretty locked in fundamentally.

Hopefully ISU turns some sort of corner this week to tighten things up.
KSU looked quite fundamentally sound as well against OU. ISU has played 2 P5 teams so far, and had 3 TOs in the Iowa game and 2 in the BU game. KU has had one TO in the three games against WVU, Houston (not P5 I know), and Duke.

If ISU's turnover issues continue, its going to be a tough year. These fundamentals things have been bugging ISU for several years, and have never really been cleaned up. As mentioned above, I too hope ISU turns the corner really fast in this area, but past history would indicate otherwise.

If the offense can execute, that should be enough to let the defense do its thing and hold KU to a manageable amount of points (24? 28?). If the offense turns it over or can't make 3rd down conversions, the defense will wear out and it will go the other way.

This is a must win or else the 3-0 start was basically for nothing. And Kansas is a much better team, so here's to hoping Dekkers can light up their defense

I don't think we're going to hammer Kansas but I think we win by two scores. It's going to be a reality check for them.

Their QB is playing out of his mind this year and is making their offense super efficient. Dekkers can't afford to be throwing INTs in this game because it just give their offense another shot at getting points.

Their QB also hasn't really seen a competent defense this year.

No, they didn't. They're Top 10 good, but far from the best. Some rankings have their D line outside the Top 10.
