On That Note: Supergroupthink

In bluegrass circles, this was probably THE supergroup--or at least I can't think of any that come close unless you were in Bill Monroe's band. Saw them in Grimes in 1986 playing this song. L to R: Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, John Cowan, and Pat Flynn.

I thought this was a thread about all the Haters on Facebook.

I like this supergroup:

Another off-radar Paisley Underground-connected supergroup, led by Steve Wynn (solo, The Dream Syndicate) (Wynn has had a LOT of side projects). Other main members: Stephen McCarithy (The Long Ryders, also part of Danny & Dusty, which I posted earlier); Bryan Harvey and Johnny Hott (House of Freaks). I posted at least a couple of these songs in OTN, can’t recall the topic(s).

Just listened to this a few days ago. These guys would certainly fit into "supergroup" criteria.

Surprised not to any iInfectious Grooves. Lead singer from suicidal tendencies, rob Trujillo from suicidal tendencies, and Stephen Perkins from janes addiction. They had some fun stuff. Can’t find one song I am looking to find...

I'm With Her, a folk/Americana/bluegrass-ish supergroup composed of Sarah Jarosz (Grammy-winning solo artist), Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek member and solo artist), and Aoife O'Donovan (Crooked Still member and solo artist). Only one full studio album together so far (from earlier this year), but they've been performing as a group since before Hillary picked her campaign slogan (to preempt any silly complaints there). A truly incredible group making some of the best music out there IMHO.

Their Tiny Desk from earlier this year:

Great cover of a Vampire Weekend song:

Great cover of an old Utah Phillips song:

Great cover of a depressing John Hiatt song:

FYI, they just added a tour date in Iowa City at the Englert in February. Bought my tickets today through a presale on the band's website (actually easier than getting tickets through Midwestix like usual). Would be cool to meet someone there at this!
