The Weird Al 2-song embargo has expired. Let fly!

Clever, timely merger of a hit movie and a hot song (’94 and ’95, respectively)

Source material: “Lump,” The Presidents of the United States of America

“Gump,” by Weird Al

(Also includes a “Laugh-in” visual — based on Ruth Buzzi’s Gladys Ormphby character, approx 0:29)

Among lyrical highlights: “His girlfriend Jenny was kind of a slut / He went to the White House, showed LBJ his butt.”

Our thread is partly inspired by the following song-couplet, as a way to connect the “parody” and “answer" aspects. "Judy's Turn to Cry" is more of a sequel to "It's My Party," than a true answer song, but close enough to qualify, and notable that it involves the same artist.

You beat me to it by 21 min., well done.

It was an entrant in a previous
The ultimate rock feud, although I always thought it was LS choice to take it personally. Probably 100s like this in hip hop that aren't board appropriate.

Didn't they squash it a long, long time ago? I thought they were all cool? No?

Categorically, I consider The Rutles more of a fictional tribute group, as opposed to parody, but I want to use one.

Intro riff and outro lifted from “A Day in the Life,” song is a general mixture of Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper”/psychedelic period. Video obviously based on “Yellow Submarine” movie.

One more from me for Weird Al — don’t think we did this yet. Clever weaving of key words from the show theme, and adapting the visual of a signature MTV video.

“That little Clampett got his own ce-ment pond!”
