On That Note : Giving Thanks

Flashback induced. Summer of 1971 listening to this on the radio driving to my job at an asphalt plant outside of Manchester in a Rambler. Yeah, a ******* Rambler but it had electric damn windows! Luxury stuff in 1971. ;)

But did it have A/C? That would have been pretty high on the luxury list in '71.

My first A/C'd car (of my own) was a 1989.

My parents had a couple dealer added A/C units in a '64 and a '69, plus an actual Factory A/C unit in '76.

My personal playlist is woefully short on "thanks" stuff but do have this one.

I'll just give thanks for that guitar playin' by Jeff Beck which is a perfect accompaniment to Rod Stewart's vocals.

All you need is faith
To hear the diesels humming
Don't need no ticket
You just thank the Lord

Did I mention the awesome guitar play. ;)

Love that version. I always like Beck best of the 3 legendary Yardbirds guitarists.

But still love the original Impressions version including the song writer, the legendary Curtis Mayfield!

I seem to remember them touring that summer and including a stop at the Iowa State Fair. Of course I was a year too young (no license yet) to drive to see them but really thought it was cool they were coming to Iowa.

Here's several versions of the same song, probably the most recognizable version of it though was the Oak Ridge Boys

I like the updated version of they re-recorded that they added "thank God for grandkids too" at the end as they started doing that later on once they all started having grandkids

Sung by the guy who wrote it:
