This week, we’re asking for your favorite albums released in 1996, to mark the 25th anniversary. If you're less LP-oriented, you may post favorite singles released that year.

After Beck’s breakthrough with “Mellow Gold,” there was speculation it might be mostly a one-hit/one-album wonder. “Odelay” put that to rest … then, he continued momentum after that.

I was a huge BoDeans fan from their first T-Bone Burnett produced Album, Love and Hope and Sex and Dreams

Based on OTN history, a couple of frequent contributors might choose this album, so I want to be selective. Good news is, it's double-LP, so still a lot more to choose. (And I won’t use “Outtasite (Outta Mind)” - one of my go-to tracks.)

I’ve been stubborn about my preference for “Alien Lanes” vs. this album, as a GBV ‘90s favorite … but this might be a more complete effort. My go-to is “Cut-Out Witch,” but I’ve used that in recent OTN, so I’ll leave it off the list.






I love the layered build-up of sound and repeated lyrics at the end of this
