Hwt is loaded right now. Hall will be a top 8 guy if things go well. I highly doubt they pull his shirt either.

Going to be a very tough dual for ISU. Dave Schultz tournament is January 24-26. I doubt this stops Zahid from wrestling Iowa State but something to keep an eye on.

I thought sure Hall was gone. He has matches in HS of him wrestling Gadson for crying out loud.

He’s going to turn 27 in January. Between redshirts and a Mormon mission, he somehow has a year left! Could be one one of the oldest D-1 wrestlers ever

Big news in that Kaid Brock is having surgery to repair his ACL. Was rumored to go back to 133 with Fix probably taking the Olympic redshirt. Assuming Fix takes the shirt, Gomez has to be a favorite to win the Big 12 crown at 133 this upcoming season.

    https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/6556688-kaid-brock-has-surgery-for-torn-acl

Unfortunate news from Stillwater, as it was recently reported in Pistols Firing that two-time All-American Kaid Brock recently had surgery for a torn ACL and will likely miss a significant portion, if not all, of the upcoming NCAA season.

Brock placed fifth at the NCAAs for Oklahoma State at 133-pounds as both a freshman and sophomore. Last season Brock moved up to 141 and fell one match shy of the podium at the NCAA Tournament.

This is correct. 133 could lose Micic, Fix, and Suriano now. This is great news for the cyclones and Gomez. Austin could end up being a top 3 or 4 guy this year.

If desanto bumps up to 141 it would open up even more. In the event of no Fix/Suriano/Micic/Desanto, I would think Gomez would probably open the year at #5 behind Gross, Pletcher, Phillippi and RBY. Only one on that list that he cant go with is Gross (if healthy) so top 4 is definitely in his range this year.

That’s not correct. He is not enrolled in classes. You cannot take a regular redshirt if you’re not enrolled.

    From northjersey.com article:
"Suriano is not enrolled for the Fall 2019 semester, according to the Rutgers student directory. The possibility still exists that he could enroll for the Spring 2020 semester, rejoin the team and use his final year of eligibility if he changes his mind.

If Suriano, who wrestled his freshman season at Penn State before transferring to Rutgers, sits out the whole year, he will retain one year of eligibility to wrestle for the Scarlet Knights in the 2020-21 season."

This makes it sound like he has an option, but you are saying that he would HAVE to enroll for the spring semester so he can redshirt. Interesting.

I think you have to be enrolled to use a regular redshirt. You do not have to be enrolled to use an Olympic redshirt. In fact, you cannot be enrolled if you’re taking an Olympic.

It’s unfortunate the USA Wrestling wrote the rules so unclearly to cause this confusion. I think if a regular redshirt was the plan, he would need to be enrolled.

    https://www.nj.com/rutgers/2019/09/rutgers-national-champion-nick-suriano-taking-redshirt-to-start-2019-20-season-as-he-eyes-olympics-bid.html?outputType=amp&__twitter_impression=true
Rutgers wrestling national champion Nick Suriano will start the upcoming season in Olympic redshirt in order to train for April’s Team Trials, two individuals with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media.”
