Oklahoma State Preview

Nice win for Ryak! That's the first time he had a good match against a top ten opponent!

Overall not our best meet, but no big disapointments.

I understand that Cole is wrestling up a weight and is struggling. I was and am happy that Cole won the Harold Nichols Open. I also assume that Trevor has been working his butt off in the room. I don't think there is anything wrong with trying other options.

Also, if Cole is still certified at 184 and Boaz is hurt, I think Cole should be wrestling 184. That's his natural weight, We probably would have beat OU on Friday if Cole wrestled 184 and Christenson at 197.

Hey, great idea. Cam Simaz is ranked number 1 and team is wrestling Cornell. By all means put Volker in.... Shafer has gone up against the best in the Nation this season and wore the ISU singlet with pride. You people kill me, these guys are not just pieces of meat that you exchange at will. Shafer has worked his butt off for ISU. He is beat to crap, moving up a weight to do as the coaching staff has asked, then Beard not wrestling most matches at 184....cause he has a few bruises, etc.
You were pretty happy with Shafer when he won the Cyclone open and pinned the Army kid, now your ready to dump him. Interesting.

I think that is called a fair weather fan base...just saying. The rest of the team did pretty crappy against Ok state also, lets put in all new wrestlers.

You people spoke of improvement, the team is improving. Granted some wrestlers faster than others, but in Shafer's case, put up to a weight he hasn't even attained yet. Give him and Beard another wrestle off and see what happens. I love watching Shafer wrestle and am tired of you people bashing him.

You talk about the bottom dwellers on this site and them bringing us and our team down, look in the mirror my friends.

Wow. If Shafer is as beat up as you say he is, then why shouldn't he get a day off to recoup a little? I can't speak for buf, but I'm not ready to just give the spot to anybody else. I'm guessing he's the best option at 197 for us and I agree that Cole has been a great team player bumping up. That said, you can't get this worked up when a couple fans casually mention an ISU legacy getting on the mat for a match or two. Competition is good for the team, good for the individuals, and the essence of the sport.

I honestly can't recall ever ripping Cole. The only guys that I ever get upset about are the ones that aren't putting forth a good effort which certainly doesn't apply to him, and even then, it doesn't do any good to dress them down on a message board. As for the fairweather thing, I'm a season ticket holder that drives 2 hours one way for every home dual, am a member of the CWC, and have been to several national tournaments to cheer on the Cyclones as I will be this March in St. Louis. We usually hang around after the duals so my kids can go down and talk to the wrestlers so they get to see first hand how good of people they're rooting for. Based on the struggles this team has gone through this season, I don't think that's something a fairweather fan would do but if you choose to judge me based on one post, then by all means, have at it. I absolutely appreciate all the hard work these guys put in and can't imagine juggling the physical and mental demands that they deal with. I'm proud of the way they represent our university and I wish them nothing but the best.

I'm still going to consider Moreno a borderline qualifier. 157 should have three AQs at Big 12s (everyone but Moreno). So if he can win one match he'll be able to sneak his way in like Shafer did last year. If he can string together a few wins in the next few weeks he might be able to steal a #3 seed, which would also help.

Wrestling Watch, I know you are a very loyal Cyclone wrestling fans, just as I know ca4cy is. I respect what Cole is doing for us, just as I respect what Mikey England was doing for us at 184. Mikey is not a 184 pounder and had similiar results to Cole wrestling 197. Cole is not a 197 pounder. I definitely am not disrespecting Cole or Mikey wrestling up a weight, but if there is a legit 197 pounder as in Trevor, I think we should give him a try and I don't expect better results against Simaz of Cornell.

I would also love to see Cole getting matches at 184 again, it seems Boaz is out a lot and Cole would seem to be a better option than Mikey.

I hope Cole is not hurt bad and is soon back on the mat, none of us want to see him hurt. Sorry for the bad feelings, we are all looking and wanting success for this team.

I agree and I hope that Cole and all of the wrestlers that have had injuries will be back at 100%. I wish them all the best!
No hard feelings. I hope if Cole is out that Trevor or Tyler or whoever they replace him with does really well and maybe it just looked worse than it was on the mat yesterday and he'll be just fine.

I am seeing improvements in our team and as I said earlier, some are improving faster than others. I hope we as the fans can appreciate the extreme toughness of our schedule and be a bit patient.

And I hate the Home and Home conference schedule. Goettl could end up wrestling Maples 5 times this year. Need more variety of teams.
