remember a few possessions prior we had it on the 1 and couldn't punch it in.In a perfect world we would have scored with as little as time left on the clock as possible. But what did you want the receiver to do, fall down to burn the clock and not score? The offense scored to take the lead, that is their job, it was up to the defense to hold them, which they did not.
I do not think anyone on this boards thinks our LBers right now are a strength, lets be honest here, these kids would be sitting and watching if not for the injuries, it is what it is, they are doing the best they can, but they are young and inexperienced and their play on the field shows that. Next year and the later in their ISU career they will be a strong group, but they are not now.

The entire team was to blame. The offense was the worse of the two. The defense did give up a 98 yard TD drive and then the final 12-play 71 yard TD drive. Even had a fourth down to end the game. It was an all around team loss.Obviously I want him to score.
I'm saying to blame any unit of the defense seems wrong to me. The defense is 20th in the country in ypg and 9th in scoring defense. The offense is 49th in scoring in the country. That's below Iowa. That is unacceptable.
The Linebackers are playing great and this loss wasn’t on the defense by any stretch. Tech was averaging almost 40 points a game entering Saturday’s game against us- we hold them to 23. I’d say that’s a job well done by the defense, LB’s included.Every game Williams and Blum say that the linebackers played well, yet I keep seeing on here that they struggled. Which is it? Did they play well compared to expected for a walk on freshman?
Either way, I did see a reason to put any blame on the defense for the loss. The offense (play-calling and execution) was the problem 100% in my opinion.

Then, Tech’s defense gave up 59 at home against Baylor 2 weeks ago and then a lousy TCU team puts 35 on them the week before. Our offense shows up and manages 22 points. Clearly our offense is having some serious problems.
Anyone who thinks our defense is responsible for Saturday’s loss is not paying attention. When your defense holds a team 16-18 points below their average…what else are they supposed to do? Our offense needs to get it together or else we’re looking at more losses. There’s only so much the defense can do.
Nope- the defense gave up 23 points- almost 20 less than Tech’s average. Whether those points came in the 1st or the 4th qtr makes little on the final number. When our offense can’t manage half of what Baylor did 2 weeks ago- we got problems. The defense allowed a game winning 71 yard drive in under 2 minutes, which included a 4th and 7 along with 2 runs by the Tech RB of 14+ yards.
They certainly aren’t all to blame, but to say they can’t shoulder some of it, well that’s nonsense.

What would it have taken for you to not blame the defense? Hold Tech 25 points under their average? 30 points? I mean- what do they gotta do?
So the other team isn’t supposed to score at all or we’re going to point fingers at the defense? This was not only on the defense, but they still blew it at the end.
I think I laid it out. Don’t allow a 71 yard drive. Don’t allow chunk runs. Don’t allow a 4th and 7 to get to a first down.
It’s not hard to see the defense, while they did play well most of the game, were not good early and choked at the end.

Our offense should’ve rang up at least 40 on the board by the 4th qtr and now a last possession or two makes no difference.
Also I want to add, that once again when we brought in the backup WR's it was always a running play.
Opposing DC's can see this too!!!
[/QUOTEseems like every time for the last several years when we audible it's always a running play!
You got that right! And stupid penalties!Coaching staff made way more mistakes. Absolutely nothing to blame the refs for.
