You're right. We mock our propensity for riots because we are embarrassed by it, so obviously, we no longer have the right to believe that idiots who may have murdered a kid on a tuesday night because of reasons are idiots.

Didn't the kid that had his picture in Daily pushing the dumpster on fire get expelled in 2004?

Not only is there 'private' video, but I heard the police on the scanner saying "make sure you have cameras on". If the civilian videos weren't enough, they've got plenty of their own footage to investigate.

That being said, Im assuming ISU will take the high road, and just continue as planned and not draw that much attention to last night. They all know with the amount of pictures/video that was captured last night, that everyone will be caught and punished. The more attention they draw to this event, the more likely it will happen again.

My only worry are the "not my town, not my problem" schmoes who see this and congregate to Ames this weekend to visit and have a goal of raising issues.

I think there are more then enough smart people who will be out on the weekend to counter the dumb-*****. I just have to SMH. Enjoy your expulsions, dumb-*****.
 
I see a lot of people saying "Crazy drunk people don't understand that".

Look, there are events all over the world where people get "crazy drunk". Events much bigger than VEISHA, and they don't result in riots. The fact VEISHA has resulted in more than one riot, and now another kid is seriously injured is a sign of a trend. It's VEISHA time.... let's get drunk and riot type of thing.

It needs to be canceled. Plain and simple.

I think the rioting thing is stupid. I think those kids are stupid.

I think it is dumb that we embrace it and try to name a rivalry game after it.

Totally, I heard that one of the people tearing down the light post was heard to say "I wasn't going to riot but Campustown is just so run down so I had no choice."

A lot of the scuttlebutt I'm hearing from police officers, CSOs, and nurses who were working ER last night is that there were a LOT of people with Cook County Illinois home addresses among those being arrested or treated last night. I'd heard from a couple people as early as sunday that there was a pretty big contingent from out of town that'd come into Ames to party all week, and were planning to basically live like transients while they did it. That's what I thought when I saw the dudes with the backpacks in the videos.

Word on the street is that is the exact same conversation Bro #1 and Bro #2 had in Cairo when it all went to ****.
 
I hope they don't cancel it. With all of the high quality video and pics from last night they'll be able to ID quite a few people. Then they need to arrest and expel all of them.

Even in 2004 you could do this stuff and still reasonably expect not to get caught. That's not the case anymore and seeing the consequences for those involved is hopefully enough to finally get rid of this crap without having to get rid of VEISHEA all together.

I already see some high school drop out type kids on my facebook newsfeed that are talking about going to Ames to wreak havoc. And these guys are in their mid 20's.
Get a freaking life...

That just means they are out of state students that are from Chicago.

I don't think many of these people were not ISU students
 
Throwing a chance for broad generalizations - but what majors do you think were represented in these pictures?
