Did anybody get a chance to watch the match against Honduras? Jermaine Jones at center back is an interesting experiment. He played pretty well there I thought, but not sure giving tons of minutes there to a guy who's going to be 36 in 2018.

I watched some of it. Jones played well, I don't get forcing Bradley to play high and Mix to play low. I get he was trying to get them out of their comfort zones, but why not just let them get really good at their more natural positions. We aren't exactly Germany, with an unlimited amount of talent flowing through the doors.

Yeah do we really need Jones to play CB in 2016, I think we have a pretty established young group that should be able to hold down that spot.

The US women lead their group in the CONCACAF Women's Championship after beating Guatemala 5-0.

That's the good news, bad news is Alex Morgan reinjured her ankle. But it doesn't sound as serious as the last time she did it.

We're playing a friendly in London November 12th...

It's not against England though, Colombia at Craven College (Fulham plays there)

What levels are you talking about?

I think I saw that she's only out for a month to 7 weeks so that's some good news about the ankle sprain.
We also beat Haiti 5-0, We're in the Semifinals meaning we will either automatically qualify for the WWC if we win in the semifinals against either Mexico or Jamaica or win the 3rd Place game (Since WWC is now 24 countries, we gained a auto spot.)

If we lose the 3rd Place game, we will go into a playoff with the 5th place team in COMEBOL's qualifying

Two more friendlies coming up for the USMNT. One against Colombia in London at Craven Cottage and then one against Ireland in the land of the leprechauns. Here's the roster:

This group is the US' group.

Despite German roots, Zelalem has always felt most comfortable with his American peers. Those close to him have described him as a typical suburban kid who embraced American teenage life. He has remained tight with former classmates and teammates in the Washington area; one parent said Zelalem’s friends here are amused when he uses a British accent in Arsenal video interviews.

Zelalem moved to the United States at age 9 and settled in Maryland’s Montgomery County, a close-in suburb of Washington, with his father and younger sister.

He thrived with the Olney Rangers, an elite youth squad coached by former George Washington University player Matt Pilkington. That exposure led to his discovery by Virginia-born Danny Karbassiyoon, a former Arsenal prospect and current scout. Zelalem also played one season for Walter Johnson High School’s varsity squad, guiding the Wildcats to the 2011 Maryland state championship game.

Before turning 16, the age at which he could join Arsenal’s academy full-time, Zelalem frequently traveled to London during school breaks to participate in workouts. He quickly drew comparisons to Cesc Fabregas, the Spanish national team midfielder who, in 2003, launched his club career with Arsenal at age 16.

Per above quote, he's been at Arsenal since he was 16, so def good. He also recently played in an Arsenal Champions League game (Champ's League is best teams from each country in a "euro" tournament)...it was a comfortbale lead, but still in the game.

So in the club sense he is actually further along than Green, who is playing for a smaller German club this year (Hamburg, on loan from Bayern) and still not getting a ton of time (bench or 15 mins at end of game)...

He's 17 so he's still plays mostly in the U-21 squad for now. He played in the Champions League in Arsenal's last game against Galatasaray though he didn't do much.

He might play in the F.A. Cup for Arsenal on January 4th.

He's got a lot of potential but isn't quite ready yet. He'll be 20 or 21 when the next world cup is so he'll likely be on the squad as a backup. Him and Julian Green are the future for the USMNT. He could have played for Germany last summer but didn't as to not ruin a chance to represent U.S. or Ethiopia.
