OFFICIAL Twister Sisters @ Oklahoma thread

announcer just said that by their book that was only #6 on ISU when A. Paris made those free throws...hmm.

Who is the guy announcer on the radio ? The lady announcer made the comment that Oklahoma fans think that a foul should never be called against them, and the guy announcer said that sounds like Iowa State fans. I was just wondering if anybody knew where Mel has been lately.

ISU radio is typically Rich Fellingham (longtime ISU WBB PBP guy) with color by Molly Parrott (ISU grad assistant).

ISU fans have a reputation for being quite vocal about officiating we perceive doesn't go our way. :)

It is Dave Sprau, sports guy for 1430 KASI out of Ames--he does Ames High games, too.

Rich is on vacation and has missed the last three games, counting tonight, I think. I don't know tonight's play by play guy. BJ Schaben (sp?) did the Colorado game.

fwiw...i was repeating what the OU announcers said on their webcast (the 360 feed was OU's feed)

Oklahoma's women are in the the same category as their men, IMO - nice team, but no way are they #2 in the country.

You might disagree if you saw the way they completely tore apart Tennessee.

If OU isn't #2, I don't know who is. UConn is the only team that's really stood out. OU is the unanimous #2 in both polls.

ISU did shoot poorly but still had a chance at the end. Very proud of this team, and I hope Hilton is packed for this team on Sunday. They deserve it. Heather got 3 three's tonight and is 22 away from the record. At her pace of 3 three's a game she may well break the career 3 mark on senior night.

I watched them beat Tennessee at Norman by 10 - but were behind by 18 at one point. Tennessee has been beaten a few times this year - not the same team as the defending back-to-back champs.
I guess we'll find out during the NCAA tournament how good OU is.
I watched North Carolina beat them at Norman this season - yet they're ranked behind the Sooners. ??????

UNC beat OU by 1. OU only has one other loss -- UConn. NC has three losses (one of which is also UConn). You could make a case that UNC is better than Oklahoma, but UNC's losses were much more recent and that weighs in voters' minds.

I'll be cheering for them in the NCAA's - I like Sherri Coale (she's like Pat Summitt - she'll play anyone) and her style of basketball. I just hope the Big 12 teams go deep in the tourney this year.

The rest of the Big XII should be worried about us come the tournament after this game. Even with the loss, I think they showed that winning is possible against anyone, anywhere.

The UNC loss, and UCONN loss were before Sooners started clicking on all cylinders. UNC had that 3 game losing streak that hurt their rankings, they were #2 for quite a while.

Notable stat: ISU smallest points margin on OU home court other than UNC.

Unfortunately for OU, ISU exposed their perimeter weakness of lack of 3 ball shooting.

Mel?

Not defending either of them specifically, but having worked in broadcasting I know that you can think you're prepared for any ad libbing you'll need to do, and then comes a moment like you mentioned. You think it won't sound bad because you don't mean it that way, but someone in the public will hear it differently and wonder why they let you on the radio. (I heard these comments, too, and there is an element of truth to them. However, it did sound kind of flippant.)
