I don't necessarily agree that recruiting MBB to Ames is easier than FB. As far as some positions are concerned (OL, DL, LB, TE, QB) there is enough talent in Iowa and immediate surrounding states to do OK. Iowa rarely produces elite MBB talent, and the northern states that do, like Illinois and Michigan, have so many hands in the bucket that you can't consistently count on those guys.

Sorry, I hate this excuse. You're not recruiting a player to live somewhere the rest of his life, you're recruiting him to come and play in a certain system with certain players under a certain coach. That should be the main focus, not what city you're in. If playing in Ames takes away from playing under a top notch coach on a top 15 team in one of the best conferences in the country just because it's not sunny enough or not big enough then I don't want them anywhere near the program. Their focus should be what is offered in basketball and academics, not if they can wear shorts in December or if they can be near a big city.

You can hate it all you want, but that doesn't make it any less valid.

Yeah its way harder to recruit to Ames. Its so far in the middle of nowhere. Its hard to get city kids to come check it out. We all like it but we all grew up around here.

True. And let's face it, we're trying to convince top talent to come here when they usually have interest in their respective in-state schools which are successful. No matter how many games Fred wins or how many Niangs we get, top talent that we've been seeking is tough to pull away, especially from blue- bloods.

Couldn't remember if he was mentioned in here but:

@GoodmanESPN: Louisville has picked up fifth-year Cleveland State transfer Trey Lewis, source told ESPN. Averaged 16.3 points this past season.

Never thought I'd see the day where a team like Louisville, Duke, KU, etc. would need to get immediate transfers.

The timing of this whole thing just stinks. If we had known that we wouldn't have Williams for next year until this past weekend, I think we would have jumped on Thorne alot sooner and heavier. Has already set up his vists..Illinois, KU, and someone else.

Mizzou is the biggest dumpster fire in the Power 5 right now. That is why Deuce is transferring again.

I second this. With our current conference right now, its easy to focus on KSU and the dumpster fire it has become, but KSU can suddenly look like a coffee can on fire compared to Mizzou. With that said, I've got the least of sympathies for either one of them. Let them burn.

Mizzou has restricted Williams to no Big 12 teams for some reason. They left the B12, we didn't kick them out.
