But what about Shaker Reisig who is scheduled to be here tomorrow? I assume Reisig is a take and nobody questions that one if he does commit. Flores just doesn’t make a lot of sense. To me anyway.

Why question Flores?

He was highly touted out of HS. Besides OSU he had offers from schools like Kansas, K-State, Mizzou & Washington.

Okie State was a mess the last couple years under Gundy. A lot of asst coach turnover.

Flores played in 9 games during 2025 season. Hard to pass up on that P4 experience when CJR is building a roster from basically nothing.

Really solid add as part of a 4/5 man QB room.

You allow Flores to develop. If he comes in and competes, and potentially beats out Raynor and Moberly, that is great. If he takes some time to develop and has to sit a couple years while Raynor starts and then maybe Moberly, then okay. He has started in the Big 12, can push the two other guys. Why not? Raynor is the starter. We might be told there is a “QB competition” but Raynor will be the starter

The better the competion at QB the better. Now a highly rated isu Qb, experienced starter at p4 level as a freshman and was highly ranked, and a three year starter that tore up a good P5 defence are going to compete to be starter. Not sure where the downside is.

I mean if you told me that we would have a guy who has thrown for over 8,000 yards and run for over 1,000 yards, a guy who started in the Big 12 as a freshman, a three-star freshman, and a three-star local guy who has been on the team, who seems bought in. I think I would take that given everything. And I'm going to trust Roehl and Heckendorf at this point, until I don't have a reason to.

Just so we’re clear, you guys are ******** about a former top 500 recruit, with Big 12 starting experience, who could very well be our 3rd string QB. There are a hell of a lot worse situations to be in.

I imagine so. No way you let Flores commit if you were still interested in landing Shaker as an available player, planning to come in the next day. Might be a case where ISU's rev share for a third option did not match?

I know he didn’t have great numbers at Okie State, but he wasn’t exactly surrounded by a lot of talent and put into a tough situation as a freshman. He was the 27th ranked qb out of HS. I see this as a low risk and potentially high reward signing.

Nah. He exceeded all expectations IMO. His HS recruiting class is on par with the classes CMC was getting in just 3-4 weeks time and talent wise, I think we will have better trenches than at any time during CMC's time which gives a lot of breathing room for other positions.
