Reynor has also never had a Big 12 supporting cast around him, plus a top 25/30 overall defense in college football.

The Roehl offenses at NDSU were very QB friendly. Reminder, Roehl was the OC for Trey Lance, who was the #3 player taken in the draft!

How so? Raynor was a slightly above average G5 QB. I actually like him but he is undersized for P4. Flores was the worst starting QB in the league for the worst team in the league. Moberly has never taken a college snap. Not even 2nd string to Rocco. Yeah someone would have to take a major step up. That's far from a sure thing.
he's about the same size as Rocco dude...around 6' 200lb ish

We need depth. The competition can’t hurt. You have no returning experience, so you bring in a couple guys with experience. Duh. I agree with you, seems like some people are expecting a bit too much from depth pieces.
This. We still take Reisig if he chooses ISU. Wazzu had 7 QBs on their roster last year. Pretty sure 5 of them were scholarship guys. We only have 3 on scholarship right now, plus an incoming freshman and I think walk-on Wyatt Bohm is still on the team.

I’d love for someone to explain the mechanics of how this works. I don’t see how “reserving” money helps create additional money to be spent under these new rules. The revenue share sounds like “use it or lose it” each year.
Revenue share instead of a cap more or less is the min any school needs to spend. Although technically anything above needs to be NIL pretty much every thing under the sun is ok with no real enforcement in place.

I'm going to pull the pin on this grenade and toss it into the room...

Flores was an "Elite" 11 finalist in 2022. :)
Exactly. He was a good recruit out of high school. If CJR and staff want him, maybe they think they can fix his mechanics and make him a good QB. Worth taking a chance IMO.

In the game against us, he was very accurate on passes to the flat and short to medium outs. Didn't show much on longer routes or seam routes, but Heacock tends to take those options away. He might be a better fit in Roehl's offense than he was in Gundy's.

Flores has talent. Can't judge him just on this year's stats. Oklahoma State's offensive line was pathetic.
Yep, the way I see this, we've got our starter, and Flores as an experienced backup (with Moberly) who is going to have some time to further develop. Having three capable guys in a system that is willing to run the quarterback is a great thing.

Blue Bloods are getting destroyed in the portal, I’ve heard. Between Bama, Georgia, Notre Dame and Ohio State, they have lost a combined 66 players and have 6 replacements, according to one source I’ve read. Georgia just lost some very quality starters to the portal. Texas is also feeling the pain, but not as much. I could be wrong, but next year should be interesting for those teams.

I imagine so. No way you let Flores commit if you were still interested in landing Shaker as an available player, planning to come in the next day. Might be a case where ISU's rev share for a third option did not match?
I realize that Reisig's visit was publicized and generated some Cyclone Fan excitement about getting a QB previously on BC's roster.

But I've seen nothing from both players HS credentials, recruiting site evals or college experience to indicate Reisig was a take before Flores.

Flores is a bigger QB and based on his OSU stats, more of a running QB than Reisig.

Everything this staff does, seems very planned. So either:
  1. Flores was the priority and the staff scheduled his visit first.
  2. Reisig is still visiting and CJR will take both.

Exactly what JP was referring to in his "NIL/Revenue Sharing press conference. Teams making players promises that have not been evaluated. I appreciate that JP and Iowa State are not engaged in over promising to these athletes. Eventually the institutions over promising and under delivering will be on the athletes undeclared "No Mas" list.
