FCS can feel D2 at times, so no worries
That is brutal.

I know you’re joking, but it is a big jump to FCS from D-II. The jump from D-III to D-II *seems* smaller to me.

My pet theory is that academics become the primary concern for many kids at the D-II and D-III level.

That the only two commits from the portal are D-II kids doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy feeling.

I wouldn't look at where a guy is coming from, but rather who else wants him.

Maasai King (who visited today) is coming from the MAC but his two portal visits are us and Oklahoma. That's good company.

The D2 linebacker who committed was being pursued by multiple other Big 12 schools at a minimum and that's just who we knew about. Baylor, West Virginia, Oklahoma State all wanted him. Not bad company there either.

On the flip side if there's a guy from Alabama or Ohio State that only has G5 interest then I would not feel great about a commit there.

Think we need to look big picture. CJR is going to add over 80 kids to this roster between now and August. So he is going to takes some risks on kids he thinks have the P4 tools (size, speed, strength) to contribute.

I wouldn't be too concerned about a lower level snapper. He's got good size and I'm sure the staff has vetted his snap speed, accuracy. Heck, there have been quite a few D2 kickers starting at P4 programs. Ole Miss' starting QB was a D2 player in 2024. Tre Bell the ISU CB this season came from D2 Lindonwood & he was one of the fastest players on the team

If it was me I’d never recruit a high school kicker ever. I’d want a kid with college experience in making kicks and balancing football and school. Don’t need a kid to get mind ****** by all the temptations of college.

I haven’t seen this kid play, but doing a little research, the majority of GSU fanbase isn’t sad this kid transferred. Not a good sign.

But if the graphic is truthful and Georgia Tech and Mizzou are interested, that's a really good sign.

A lot of D3 kids are at that school to play a sport. They know they won’t go pro but they find a major that works while they play at that school. Waldorf once told me that 83-86% of their students play a sport there. That’s why they have so many, so students come.

Yeah, I actually agree and if anything tend to overvalue what other offers a player has as I casually watch recruiting given I am not a qualified talent evaluator myself.

I still don’t have the answer on the long snapper scholarship. Also, that maybe matters less with the additional 20 next year.

We don't have 20 additional scholarships. We are staying at 85 with 20 walkons.

Most likely the longsnapper will have a scholly

Some NIL ideas for them…

Hi! I’m Rocco Becht quarterback for Penn State university. I want to talk to you about a problem that is rampant in Pennsylvania…yes, I’m talking about pedophilia. The 2nd Mile has generously sponsored me to bring this message to you.

Remember…unless you’re an invaluable part of Pennsylvania’s premier football program…touching little boys is highly frowned upon.

And remember, kid touching isn’t ok unless #YouAre a coordinator at #PennState!

Correct, I knew better. So is MC $30MM in just NIL deals above whatever he’s going to spend on rev share, which I assume is at least $15MM? ~$45MM to spend on FB is a hell of a war chest, same thing at LSU, etc.. Or, does he have ~$30MM ($15MM - NIL and $15MM - rev share)? I assume it’s the latter, but the reports don’t delineate between the too. Reports on PSU say $30MM in “NIL”.
Everything above the 20.5m has to be legit and approved nil. Can’t just promise that I would think?
