Once again, with the Alabama cannot compete in N.I.L.? SMH. Say it enough times, I suppose it will become true! FTR, they are the 3rd highest revenue earning Athletic Department in FBS. They literally have 80 players (currently) in the NFL with unlimited funds, plus they do have other wealthy donors who 100% care about football. Right now, they are struggling due to a poor coaching hire, not because of NIL. If Alabama needs to write an NIL check, they can.

You assume they have any of that money left.

If we looked at a vein diagram of ‘78% of nfl players go bankrupt or severe financial problems in 24 months of retirement’ & ‘Alabama players in the nfl’…would you expect there to be a gap? Hmmm

You got me!
Alabama on the way to the NIL poor house. :)

Brings up an interesting topic: Even if Campbell was still here, how many of our guys would have been poached for more money? That's not being talked about enough IMO. Yes, I'm peeved that CMC left, and I hate that he's taking our guys with him, but some of these stars may have been poached regardless.
There were attempts, it may of gotten harder, but his culture did keep guys in Ames at a discount.

This feels like an area that the NCAA could jump in and the court system couldn't interject itself. Implement specific academic requirements to be eligible:
  • Credits each semester
  • Minimum GPA each semester
  • Progress toward degree at end of school year
  • Graduation after 4 years
If academics requirements were elevated, then maybe we would see fewer transfers. ESPN shows that as of mid-day on Jan 2 there were 4500 D1 football players in the portal.

But the other reality, not convinced the majority of P4 schools are all that interested in player academics. Just keep the money rolling in. It wouldn't surprise me if in the next 3-5 years that players on college teams no longer have to be enrolled.
I believe the first 3 bullets are already the criteria for eligibility. However, since it's been years since I've heard of anyone being declared academically ineligible, I doubt anyone is monitoring.

The Manske situation is super interesting. He either goes to Penn State to sit behind Rocco or he goes to Kansas State to potentially sit behind Avery. Or he takes a chance on a place that will guarantee him a starting position

Makes me think he wasn't wanted by Rogers and co.
CJR wanted him but told him we were going to bring in a one year with experience.
