Rocco was strange in that his deep ball was more accurate than his short throws. Seemed like he bounced a few off helmets and other weird stuff to miss easy throws.
That's exactly what I did...I'll take a QB who had offers from schools like Alabama, A&M and Florida and was listed as the #7 dual threat QB in his class by ESPN. And has at least 3 years of eligibility.
But I'm curious to hear what your scouting report of Josh Flowers is since you seem to know more about him than just his offers coming out of high school?
That's mechanics. Easier to be accurate with go routes and posts because you're airing it out and letting receivers run under it. But really affects short and intermediate throws when you have to put it in specific spots.
We don’t know what our options are. About as good as I could hope for
Cignetti's initial contract was 6 years 27 mil and their NIL budget was closer to ours that first season.
I think the coach that recruited him to an SEC school went to Arkansas State and he flipped. Now that coach is our QB coach. Edit:I was not completely correct. Decommitted from Miss State but our QB coach was not there.
Raynor would be fine. His completion % was 66%. Not bad at all.

The only scout you need on Flowers is that he wasn’t good enough to beat out Raynor, the exact QB you’re poo pooing
He would be a nice add. But because of his OSU ties wonder if someone will pay him big bucks. But maybe CJR & Roehl have strong ties to Kienholz as he progressed through HS.
At this point we need to build an entire QB room. Reynor brings experience and age to the room. If Moberly beats him out great
An isolated completion percentage doesn't tell you much. If half of those passes are lateral that's a hell of a lot different than if that's more slanted to down the field.
With all that OSU money he's set, doesn't need more, in fact maybe he can help fund our NIL budget.
But if he was missing tons of wide open guys against Iowa State, that clearly did not last all season.
His OC is on our staff. If he sucked, we wouldn't go after him. The rushing threat adds another dimension.
For reference,
- Raynor completed 66 percent and averaged 6.6 ypa.
- Rocco completed 60.5 percent but averaged 7.62 ypa..
- ISU 2025 opponents completed 61.2 percent and averaged 6.6 ypa.
Not how it would work. Fewer players would transfer out because of the restrictions. A few would transfer in but would sign the same contract.
Of course exceptions would be made for a player transferring due to an ill relative but the general rule would be no workout facilities, no athletic dorm, no scholarship once you quit the team.
You think if they were forced to stay through spring, most would stay? A few maybe, but most still would transfer. And they wouldn't want to risk an injury prior to that. Coaches wouldn't want them to stay either if they weren't in the plans for next year.
If that were a local Iowa State rule, it would kill recruiting. No way would that ever be an NCAA rule.
