Exactly.

Right now can anyone imagine Matt Campbell 20 years from now, coming back to give a pep talk to rally up the team (coached by someone else) before a big game and start the tornado siren in Jack Trice?

I could be wrong, but sure seems like Matt is GONE gone when it comes to Ames, IA & ISU.

Mac loves us, ISU, and wants nothing more than to be in Ames and around Cyclone football.

Maybe a day will come where Campbell would come back and get honored at Jack Trice, but he left voluntarily and I just don't see him volunteering to come back.

Mac and Johnny Orr will always be my two favorite ISU coaches.

Unpopular take:

If ISU were to blow a disproportionate chunk of its NIL budget to bring Brahmer back out of spite I’d be OK with it.

But why. Sure Brahmer is a stud TE. But part of that was Campbell/Mouser making TE's a focus of their offense. TE's is a position where I think a coach can get a guy on the cheap and develop.

Personally, I would pay TE's near the bottom of all the roster spots.

Spite. Pure spite.

Mac didnt leave voluntarily. Mac has shown ISU love every step of the way.

Mac supports ISU through all kinds of avenues.

Someone leaving because ISU is not good enough for them vs. someone doing there best for ISU and being asked to leave, because it had went as far as we could, are very different.

We are fans and alumni. But for Campbell being a football coach is his career. I doubt he looked at Iowa State not being good enough for him. If he did he wouldn't have lasted 10 years. He had blue blood offers and if he didn't like Iowa State he could have easily taken a lateral job.

People need to face it, Campbell took a promotion. I hope we've all done that in our careers.

Yeah and I dont have to hope that my colleagues that take promotions, succeed in destroying the company I am still at, I dont have to hope for them to take my entire clientele leaving me broke, I dont have to hope they succeed and I fail. Frankly, I dont have to give a **** one way or another about them anymore.

Taking a promotion, is exactly the definition of your old job was not good enough anymore. Just like ISU was good enough for Campbell, until it wasnt. ISU could not give him what he wanted, whether that be money, opportunity, location etc. That is the definition of not being good enough.

**** Matt Campbell, he is gone, get over him, its time to support Jimmy ******* Rogers.

I'm starting to wonder how many guys ultimately follow Campbell to PSU compared to what he expected. Rocco seems like a given, but the rest of the studs are going to have pretty lucrative options.

Yea PSU has to compete against everyone else and some schools might have bigger needs at a position and be willing to pay more. It's not like PSU didn't have elite talent on their roster.

Also, in the end I think a decent # of offensive players follow Campbell to PSU. But it wouldn't surprise me to see a good share of defensive players go elsewhere. Not like Heacock and most assistants on that side of the ball are at PSU.

If some of the reports are true, it sounds like there is bad blood both ways between ISU and Campbell. Time heals some wounds, but if he has a long career at Penn State and ends his career there I find it hard to believe he'd want to have any involvement with ISU at any meaningful kind of level.
Like what? What is the bad blood? Genuinely curious.
