I don’t see Manske or Moberly sitting on the bench. Moberly staying suggests Manske leaving to me. They are really close in age and talent and they both have already redshirted I believe. They both are gonna want to be starters. But who knows? By the time I post this reply I could be proven wrong.
IIRC Moberly is the class ahead of Manske? So Moberly should have 3 years eligibility left and Manske 4. Sort of a Rocco and JJ situation. Barring an injury do you want to sit until you're a RS senior? Pretty much unheard of today. So I agree, Moberly staying likely means Manske is out the door; and honestly it was likely inevitable that we lost one of them anyways. It's just happening this year instead of next year when one beat out the other after Rocco left.

I just really hope we don't end up playing against Manske for multiple years at KSU.

In the last decade or so, we’ve had several instances of QBs getting injured or otherwise departing, and the 2nd (or 3rd) string being even better. It seems a little shirt-sighted to assume that, if you’re the backup, you’re going to be stuck in that spot for 3-4 years.

People are using Campbell's approach to Rogers when it comes to players. Campbell would not bench a QB once he settled on one, even when they are injured we found out. I believe Rogers changed QB this year at Wazzu, not sure if the one was injured and he had to, but you can't use what happened under Campbell to follow suit under Rogers

I would have agreed with you pre-NIL. But those same players are demanding we pay them now. Once that happened all bets are off. You want something from us but don’t want us upset when you take the money and leave? Can’t have it both ways
To be fair have any actual athletes or coaches complained that fans are upset about them leaving?

I mean, it is still a decent deal if you get paid to play but have to endure mean tweets from man children and knowing there may be people whining about you on some online forum.

But do players ever actually take the money and leave? Presumably there are contracts with clawbacks if they’re actually broken?

What position groups after QB are the highest priority for rev share in retaining guys? Probably the tailbacks? Moberly announcement is a high likelihood that budgeted money is being allocated to current players for next year. I expect to hear from Hansen, Sama, and Flora very soon. Probably can throw Konrardy in there. If I am the GM I need to work through all those budgeted funds so I know what I need to allocate to the portal. One thing to keep in mind is that while ISU has 4 times as much money to spend on the football roster as last year, so does most everyone in the P4. There will be quite an inflation in value for players widely seen as contributors.

What makes you think Moberly would start ahead of Manske. Manske was the first one off the bench this year. He seemed to already be the no. 2 QB behind Becht.

Don't know if there was an injury, but what I saw was that he didn't fit what they were doing on offense. Very unathletic pocket-passer type. Sounded like he had more arm talent than this Eckhaus kid that's playing, but they decided his overall skill set was better for what they wanted to do.

Both are young and unless there was a clear #2 last season, why wouldn't both come back and compete for the starter job?

The portal is still going to be there and Moberly (2) & Manske (3) years eligibility after 2026.

But you could be right as money matters. Is Rogers willing to pay what Moberly and Manske want/market offering them?

The consensus seems to be the actual media exposure for the new PAC-12 is similar to the ACC and Big 12 (and much, much better than the MWC and AAC).

Edit: I didn’t really follow the PAC-12 rebirth, they’re in really good shape it seems. Good for them. It is hard not to root for Wazzu and Oregon State.
That is not accurate. The new Pac8 will have 3 games on CBS. Same as current MWC TV deal.

All the other games are on CBSSports, CW and USA. And the deal is rumored to be $7-10M annually per school. Far, far,far below the Big12 & ACC deals. And also lower than AAC.

Along with QB & RB, I wouldn't be surprised if ISU doesn't spend/prioritize the OL & DL spots.

And then take care of CB & WR spots.

It would be a great CW & BB podcast this spring to have a conversation with ISU's GM on approach to this portal season.

I wouldn't make that assumption. Manske grew up a Clone and I think he would probably win the starting job head to head with Moberly

Im all for kids making money, but someone needs to come out with guidelines where they can't move year to year. I don't know who makes that call.
For that to happen, there would probably need to be a CBA and I would think players would need to become employees.

Until that happens, the Big 10/SEC and their most "win at any cost" schools will push their advantage.

As for the money, that is exactly what I quoted. The point wasn’t that the jump to the Big 12 money was insignificant, only that the jump between the Big 12 and Big 10 was a lot bigger in dollars.

Not sure on AAC, as I said I just did a quick search and the claims I read put them in thw $4-7M range.

Again, as I said…I’m just parroting what came up in a search that I glanced over. Some was obviously partisan smoke, but much seemed to come from ostensibly disinterested 3rd parties that said the linear TV exposure was better than the rest of the G5 and up there with the P4. How it compares in broadcast vs cable I don’t know.

Regardless, without verifying I’m very confident the PAC-12 has a better deal than the MVC.

As I said, it looks like all-in-all they’re solidly in the top tier of the G5.

For what it is worth, I’m not a fan of any of the schools, though I’m happy Oregon State and Wazzu seem to be on reasonably solid footing for the near future.
