***Official portal tracker thread***

Not now. But later. After Cody plays his billionaire games.
There won't be later either. Big time programs and wannabe big time programs want to rub elbows with each other. There will never be a day when it's more advantageous financially to be in the Big 12 vs the SEC in football. And the dude couldn't give a **** less about any other school other than Tech. He's no friend.

Moving sucks unless you are at the price point of making $5 million a year, then you call up the moving company, they pack and load it all up onto the semi, drive it across the country and then unpack everything you have. You only have to stand there and tell them where to put everything,
Unless you’re single and some kinda ascetic hobo whose every worldly possession fits in a backpack and an ATA-rated guitar case moving is a nightmare no matter how much cash you throw at it.

Even then you still have to figure out what pizza places in the new city don’t suck and where you can piss on the walk home from the bar without a pic of your **** from a Ring camera ending up plastered on Nextdoor.

But hey, that’s just my experience.

Several years ago the Oregon Ducks put up a 80-100 foot ad on the side of a building in Oakland, CA (Oakland borders Berkeley, where Cal is located).

To add insult to injury I believe it was a “Run LMJ” LaMichael James Heisman ad. This was a couple blocks from the Golden State practice facility, and back when “Run TMC” was synonymous with the golden era of Warriors basketball.

Spending money to troll is a worthy endeavor.
We did the same thing with Seneca Wallace and the Eiffel Tower

He's gonna end up buying Tech's way into the SEC at some point.
Can't see that happening with Texas, A&M and OU already in SEC. If the SEC is going to add 4 or 8 teams, gotta believe the SEC will expand it geographic footprint to populated areas along atlantic coast, midwest or southwest.

The only way I see it happening is if both conferences decide to go to 24 and A&M jumps to the Big 10. I don't see them getting that big for a while but who knows the conferences just keep growing.

We had been in on JC French from Georgia Southern. It sounds like we backed off when Raynor locked in his commitment.

Raynor + Moberly + incoming freshman makes it hard to be attractive to the kind of portal QBs that we would care about who are good enough to start. The room is in decent shape. Still need to add at least one more QB who isn't a true freshman or walk-on though.
I like QB Hudson Kurland. after watching his HS highlights. He has a high ceiling IMO. I'm glad we got him!

Now hold on Curt, you are saying that if you had his money and you made ISU a major player in the game, you wouldnt want to shove it in the SEC and B1G and ultimately Fox and ESPNs faces? Don’t disappoint me. Reading your posts I think you wouldn’t love and I mean absolutely love nothing better. I would be cheering you on.

I am not afraid to admit it but I would be more obnoxious about than Cody Campbell. I wouldn’t quit either.

Obnoxious towards the Hawks yes. But not in the "look at me" sense, more of just Cyclone billboards all over eastern Iowa. Like bring back the CYCLONE STATE billboards

I don't totally disagree but who knows what Tech's profile will be in 5-10 years with his money and influence? It might be a no brainer at some point. They are pretty successful in other sports too.

Or is he trying to put a bold impression on young men who like this type of hype. Cody Campbell wants the top players in the country to think Texas Tech and know about the brand. Can you imagine what this guy is going to do for the TT team that wins TT its first Championship?

Pretty sure he will jerk off to a picture of himself wearing a TT football jersey.

Ok. I’m willing to accept that reality. But I’m not willing to watch a coach continue to have crap offensive schemes, mismanage the clock, and waste timeouts for 10+ years with no sign of improvement. Campbell could not reach Iowa State’s ceiling because of Campbell; the finances were not the issue.

I’m excited to see Rogers push this program to its actual ceiling, regardless of where it is. Because it’s certainly higher than what we’ve witnessed.

Oh, finances were part of the issue, as was tradition. Guess who ended up second on R. Mason Thomas and the Kenyon Sadiq? Those are probably the best two players at their positions in the country. Campbell could sniff those players out, but couldn't compete with the big boys to get them to sign. There are multiple examples of this where a guy is undervalued and ISU almost got them, but a blue blood had a spot open late and snatched them.

That all said, it sure seems like we're in a decent spot now going forward. And I hope Campbell crashes and burns.

But conference expansion is more about TV eyeballs. So TT is going to need to bring more incremental viewers & footprint than other options.

If the end goal is Big10 & SEC both to 24 schools, I suspect Iowa State has a better shot of getting in the SEC than TT. Having Mizzou, KU and Iowa State would provide strong presence in upper midwest for SEC to counter Big10 schools.
