***Official portal tracker thread***

I feel for CW. You can tell he had personally connected with Matt and several of others on staff. The way this all happened hit the fans like a ton of bricks, I can't imagine what it must've felt like for CW. Things like this happen a lot in his line of work, but it hadn't happened to him in 10 years, and probably never like this. To go from incredibly sourced in to starting from scratch again at this point in his career probably had him asking himself a lot of questions, and maybe still is. It's a time of heavy contemplation, no doubt.
Is this for real? BFD.

People deal with this crap all the time in jobs. To be fair, I couldn't get excited about transfer portal season either. Wake me up when it's over. Thank god I don't have to worry about it for any reason.

That is fine. I’m sure he is really bummed. We all have things that make us bummed.

My issue is that he can’t do one podcast on 2GNC without bringing up how we should have hire his bff mouse. Want to know why he most likely isn’t sourced in? The new coach and staff saw this guy crying over the old one, it’s going to take time for them to be like yeah… let’s give him info.

I just got done watching the CW/Blum podcast from earlier today. CW seems so disinterested compared to Blum about portal season. I can’t imagine CW is still grieving Campbell leaving right?? It’s time to buckle down and really get into it now. Kids are committing and visiting. Time to be positive and try and spread positivity within the fanbase and CF. Let’s go CW, get with it!!!! :otz::chris::bugle:
Kind of feels like an elementary school kid whose friends start a new lunch table in middle school and don’t invite him.

“Oh shoot Chris looks like our table is kind of full. Looks like maybe the new kid has some spots at his table…?”

Wait, I was specifically told by @Tailg8er , NO ONE on this page believes this or says this!

And he believes he has the biggest of brains on here, so there is no way he could ever be wrong in his own mind.

Weird

Although, I have to say, it is much more peaceful now that I have him on ignore.

Quote the post where I said no one says this has been the best era of ISU football ever..? Of course it has been.

What I said is NOBODY likes NIL (or this current version of NIL), or says it's a good thing. You have comprehension issues, my man.

Also some tough guy to tag a poster who you have on ignore, lol. I clearly hurt your fee fees.

Its not hard. All you have to do is take a picture of a player and hang it in some business, and pay that player millions, for said picture.

Its not like all those oil barons dont have multiple businesses and corporations that can "sponsor" an NIL promotion.

That NIL cap is not a cap, it is just the rev share of the school. The school cant give more, in their name, but all the donors can give as much as they want, in the name of NIL. All they did was make it ok for the bag man to pay players out in the open.

I would love to see some rules or backtracking put in place.

1. require college players to go back to amateur status, meaning no income outside college. (yes I know there are so called NIL issues with this, but I also believe their are ways to make it work) using contracts etc.
2. Keep the rev share, from the university, making it qualified income like stipend and scholarship, that does not count toward their amateur status.
3. Players get a share of the income the school is earning on them, which is what the entire issue was supposed to be about, but takes the pay to play NIL donor, and transfer issue out of it, and puts everyone back on a level playing field. (Nothing says you cant go make more money or get NIL deals, you just cant and continue to play college, I get it they are saying their NIL is the value etc. but that is the entire problem today. And the rev share is supposed to cover that.)
5. Adjust transfer rules and timeline to reduce transfers. Bring back a sit out year, change the transfer until after spring etc.
6. Require contracts, ie a 3 year contract for incoming freshmen, they are locked in for 3 years then become a free agent, that their current school has the option to reup or they go to the portal for their remaining 1-2 years etc. similar to how NFL does rookies.
7. Require compensation for portal/trades while under contract. If a player wants to go to the portal or is pushed there by the program, they will need to be traded for, being money or players. So if a player wants to leave ISU for Alabama, during their contract, Bama has to either pony up to buy out contract or offer a player in trade. Like pro leagues.

These are just a few options, any of them may help, there are many others that could also. I doubt any of it happens unless it is forced by congress or something at this point.
Only in reply to your first paragraph.
It is not supposed to be that easy. That picture hanging there would have to be evaluated by Deloitte to determine if $1M is the FMV to that company - which I would guess it is not.
Now - I do not believe for one second that this process will work and prevent outright pay for pay.

Yea I guessing CW will be frozen out by the new staff for awhile. You don’t come back quick from crying like a school girl in public.

CW looked really bad on last Wednesday's podcast with BB. I am not accusing him of anything, I am merely making a personal observation- CW looked like he was on a bender. When BB was talking early in the podcast on Wednesday- CW just had this long face stare going.

Honestly - I can get past the crying bit happens. It’s emotional.

I can’t get past the constant moping around about it and not moving on. We have exciting times happening and it feels like we are still thinking about the one who made a decision to leave. I get he loves Brazena but he needs to take that down. It’s time to quit pandering to the Campbell crew. He should be pandering to us. His clients.

Nah I can’t get over the crying thing, in private it’s ok, not in public and certainly not for something as trivial as a coaching staff leaving. How many professionals cried on air when Kennedy was killed? Or 911? Those were absolute tragedies.
