***Official ISU-Pitt postgame thread***

OK - you brought it up. Explain.
It's no secret. AJ Green was set to come play. To the point that when he visited Ames, he picked out an apartment. Then shortly before the deadline, the Milwaukee Bucks called and told him they would give him a two way contract. So he stayed in the draft.

Already an early top 10 draft pick on some 2024 predictions.
Wondering how him and King would do in the front court. I know we'll be adding players, but with what we've got
Williams
Hamilton
Watson
King
OB
Would be athletic as hell

Heard our coach declined warm up time after the delay for basket leveling. Went 23.3% for the game. Maybe should have taken it.
I agree... Why not have full warmup time? Especially with a team that is so rooted in habits. I appreciate the tenant making excuses... But what wa s their to lose by making sure the team got truth their full routine

Man I hope we can land a guy with a great handle and one more shooter. We've been missing those things so badly. It feels like an eternity since I've been able to watch ISU on offense and actually enjoy it. I know they've been forced to play the way they do and won some games but it's just been so ugly.

I agree. Every game the announcers say “TJ wants to muck up the game and win a rock fight”. That’s ok for now, but I hope that isn’t how he wants to play forever. I want the team to win first and foremost, but I’d also like to get back to actually enjoying watching us play basketball too.

Personally I don't really give a damn how it looks if it results in winning. It's how Eustachy and Floyd's teams played with very good players and a majority of fans would look fondly on those eras.

My hope is that with better athletes ISU can play more straight up defense that doesn't require total energy to trap etc. and then conversely have a guy or two that can be reliable to get a bucket or at least create action to get a really good look.

Yeah, warm up plays a role in game performance although the margin of victory shows a victory would have still been hard to come by.

I mean you could listen to non coach Chris Williams and get that same generic game plan. Make us shoot and don’t turn the ball over to us. Pack it in. Did they do anything to make us shoot worse? I didn’t see it, we just have generally bad shooters who can all be terrible shooters in a given day.
Yeah they literally had 4 guys just sagging off and sitting in the lane. Credit to Pitt for being disciplined. The only way things were going to open up on offense is if we hit 3s. A much worse FDU team did something similar to a much better Purdue team. Purdue just happened to have a giant in the middle and at least one of their guys hit some outside shots so it didn't look as bad.

The beginning of conference play we had some games where the offense was pretty good and the games were really enjoyable imo

Ok. Some of that I knew and some I didn't. But how would have one call changed AJ going pro?

I think it was quite literally one call from the Bucks.

One day AJ is going to play for ISU.

Then the Bucks called, and he wasn't at ISU any more.

I think some have called for a back up plan to that but I'm not sure how you recruit someone with a 'just in case the guy we actually want doesn't come' as your selling point in the 'I want to play now and now only' era.

If you all want to feel better about yesterday. Go read the Purdue message boards. I did and now I feel much better about life. It’s the difference between hearing your cat died on this message board, then read their message board and their whole family died in a plane crash.

I'm watching Purdue's post-game presser and Painter and the two players including Edey do a great job in conducting themselves and crediting the opponent.

The good (tremendous) from this season: 8-3 vs Big 12 teams still in the tournament.

The not so good: Played 4 teams in the non-con who made the tournament. Lost to all 4 by 18, 19, 17, 18

It is so odd to me that the Big 12 is easily the best conference, yet this discrepancy.
