What could possibly go wrong having the #2 and 3 QBs having no experience in the system?

Are you saying the backup QBs should get regular reps to “get experience?” Because outside of garbage time and some gadget packages, the backup QBs shouldn’t play. And garbage time and a couple run plays for Manske don’t really provide that much meaningful experience.

New QBs that have not played very much at all step in and start the following year all the time.

And Manske committed here after it was obvious Rocco was going to be the #1 a couple more years. Moberly committed and stuck around knowing the same thing.

If they transfer to play next year, that’s FCS or G5. Nothing to indicate that so far.

Rocco wasn’t right after the cincy game. Seems like he’s been dinged up pretty significantly.

Tre Bell has had some really good plays and some very bad plays this season.
Sowell, Flora, and Becht were also hit and miss all season.
I would open the QB competition. Rocco is the #10 rated QB in the big 12.

Man I wish Sowell could be more consistent. He made some nice plays today, but also was called for a couple of very costly holding penalties. He definitely has the talent. Hopefully, he'll be a nice weapon for us next year.

I'd go easy on Flora. That wind was crazy today. Made the ball drop straight down and he knew it would be very risky to try to catch, so he decided to just let it go. Yes, it was on him, but the conditions were awful.

I don't know what the protocol is in general but I thought it was up to lots of players on the field to call off coverage/return team with 'poison!' or similar call so that everyone can hear it.

Maybe the wind knocked the ball down in a weird way and there wasn't much time to call anyone off, but I'd think then you don't really set up a return and just focus on retaining possession.

Agree. Maybe our coaches should have handled it differently. In any event, I'm not gonna put too much blame on a redshirt freshman who's being asked to return punts in terrible weather conditions.

just a suggestion and not sure i want to say it but could the coaches look to the east and figure out what they do as their special teams seem to make their team not have the mistakes that ISU has.

Iowa did the same thing on a kick off yesterday.

That's actually worse since the ball is live no matter if a player touches it or not.

So it's not good that ISU had it happen, but it happens in other places too.
