Those reasons plus a saw somewhere that when A&M left that some TV execs told the B12 they needed to shore up the DFW market with TCU or potentially lose part of it with A&M.
Gotta call horse**** on that one. Not that you didn't hear it somewhere, but if you have THE University of Texas Longhorns, I find it hard to believe that you have to fret about losing TV markets in Texas. The Horned Frogs aren't "shoring up" anything when the Longhorns are on board.

ATM may win the SEC next year....they may be national champs also. They have half billion stadium project. Nationally, not Texas local, they are in the football spotlight. If someone asked who has the best football team in Texas, the national people polls would say aTm.

Yep, so far Aggy is successful in the SEC with their B12 recruits and B12 style offense. Once those B12 recruits leave the program, let's then see how Aggy does in the SEC.

I think we took two teams quickly when beebe thought the league was folding. We could have done better later on. UL will remain an elite bball team as long as Pitino is coaching and their football has been okay and will get better. Maybe we could have landed Florida State instead of wvu. I just thought their bball team looked bad and their fball team was overrated. Now losing Geno and Tavis, they will probably not be as good this year.

So your saying they will be better and not get ate up in conference play like last season?

With what we had to work with at the time, West Virginia wasn't a bad pick up however both WVU and TCU was a pick up out of desperation, don't kid yourself about that. TCU needs to step it up in football big time now. Moving forward the Big 12 is in a better position to be picky about who we bring on. If the Big 12 could get back to having a couple of top 5 teams every year in football things will get better

I don't think TCU needs to step up in football. They've been to multiple BCS games and were about as young as you can get last year. They'll be good this year. What TCU has to do imo is step up everything else. They are pathetic in all other sports.

you guys are nuts. of what was available WVU was a GREAT add. State school. Big fan base. The only issue is they are isolated, but there wasn't much to be done about it and everyone seems to have forgotten that we were in crisis mode. Even if we had gotten FSU, the FSU fans would be complaining about their new conference in 1 year too because they wouldn't feel they fit in. Give it time. WVU didn't have any other great options. As for TCU...it was a crisis move. We needed a team, they were immediately available. We kept a bigger recruiting base in Texas due to another game there for the north teams. We kept another conference out of the Texas footprint which was already broken by ATM. They aren't an urban commuter school which was opposed by the university presidents. If we had added L'ville instead of WVU then their fans would be complaining of buyers remorse and we would be complaining that we took them on an island (not realizing the irony of ISU also being a pretty good f-ing island). Give it time. We didn't have a lot of options. The choice was never L'ville or TCU it was L'ville or WVU and if you would rather have L'ville that is your opinion, but it is silly. WVU is public, larger, longer tradition, and the distance wouldn't have been that much different.

TCU was used to keep to keep a Big 12 stranglehold on Texas, and it was the right move. TCU was going to end up in a BCS conference, and the Big 12 didn't need to have three BCS conferences with a footprint in Texas. I laugh every time one of you claims that TCU was a desperation move, and then tries to make an argument for Louisville and Cinci.

UL would belong as they have the financial backing and fan support needed. UC I am not sold on.

I hate the offseason. Arguing over things that were and that will never be.

It is still arguing over which turd is shinier. There is only one school in the Big 12 with less fans than Louisville and Cinnci, and that's the team featured in your avatar.

Less fans than Cincy? According to what? We've got them by 10k on attendance and raise far more money via alums and fans for athletics.

Beebe was GONE when we added both TCU and WVU...not sure what the **** you're talking about.
