10 is the ideal size for a conference. Playing all other schools in football and home and home in basketball is much more interesting.

i just hope we make a move before we end up with drake and uni

Lets just start our own 10 team conference...

North:
South Dakota
South Dakota St.
North Dakota
North Dakota St.
Minnesota St.

South:
Iowa St.
Drake
UNI
NW Missouri St.
Morningside

We can be the Texas of our new conference and run everything!!!!!

I like it but let's bounce Morningside and add Wayne State or go to 12 and also add UNK.

I'm saying 2hrs difference with the PAC teams sucks (2 times zones away). Do not want.

The thing is, with that size of conference you really dont have to change the structure all that much, depending how you structure it. We could play a conference schedule consisting of our half and one from the other side. Itd basically be 2 conferences (just called divisions) with a 'challenge' game, but flying under the same banner so you can negotiate better tv and bowl deals.

I agree with you there. The ideal conference to me is a group of 10 peer universities in a geographic area that allows fans to be able to drive to most games. But with TV that'll never happen.

North Dakota Don't want to lose in tailgating games every year to Lakesbison
North Dakota St.
Minnesota St. Coach Hayden Fox's Screamin' Eagles? No thanks, we'll get dominated every year

South:
Iowa St.
Drake
UNI
NW Missouri St. Maryville=Party!
Morningside Can we get Indian Hills instead?

Yes, given that TV is dominating everything in realignment, adding more windows for game-times seems like a terribly stupid idea.

By the way, is Louisville joining anytime soon?

Looks like the Catholic 7 may form quicker than 14-15. Sounds like a 10 team conference with Butler and Xavier joining the 7 and either St. louis, Dayton or Creighton as the 10th team

And they're keeping the Big East Conference as the name...odd.

Catholic 7 schools to keep 'Big East' name for new league next season, according to sources - ESPN

Crazy. Sounds like this is Fox's baby. I wonder when ESPN and NBC will create their own conference? It's all about the $$$$$ ... but we knew that already. That thought kind of scares me...

What other hypothetical can we sidetrack off to for the next 5 pages....hmmmm hopefully something as "intriguing" as this was. Please for the love of beer can we move on...

How about this...KU and Mizzou discussed by Big 10 according to our friend mhver3. That would really put us on an island.

If that clown says it, it ain't true.

Truth.

The WVU 'insiders' dont know ****.

I do love mhver3 in particular trying to take credit for calling some of the stuff re: the catholic 7 this week though. "i told you guys they would leave and they would invite these teams"... well yeah, but anyone speculating made those exact same guesses.

I just dont understand why ND wouldn't want to stay in the "new big east" they wouldnt have to worry about a conference wanting them in Football
