***Official Big 12 Expansion Thread '16***

It wouldn't be the Big XII. It would be a new conference that UT is trying to put together. Go read my link above, check out the source and see what he is saying about what is going on. He talks about how he needs to hear the same story from 3 reliable sources before he will go public with it. I certainly don't know that he is any more credible than anyone else but it seems he at leas has some credible connections based on his time in the business.

So Texas is going to poach multiple teams from multiple power 5 leagues to form a whole new 20-team conference? Yeah, there's a better chance of Nebraska coming back on their own to an Oklahoma-less Big 12.

Not saying anything is going to happen. I certainly have no clue whatsoever as to where this will all end up. But, I would bet anything the guy who is saying this stuff is more plugged in and in the know than you are. Just saying...

The only reason I could think Nebraska is considering coming back would be because the Hero's game just hasn't lived up to expectations.:D

People are really dreaming or crazy. So Big XII would add 11 new teams including Nebraska? Maybe that's why there is still 11 being considered for expansion?

Okay so UT is building something different, a 20 team conference? Didn't we just learn that the available teams don't add revenue? Sure Knu i s a name school, but the conference would need something more than UT and KNU.

Unless UT thinks they can poach a couple of P12 schools I don't see how this works for them.

Let's just merge Big12 and Pac12. East Division would be current Big12 members plus Colorado. West would be current Pac12 minus Colorado. You can keep the rivalry in current conference and add 3-4 games from opposite division. Imagine Oklahoma plays Oregon every couple of years and we have a chance to play USC!

I know I am drinking koolaid, but that would be cool.

If Texas goes to 20 and the B1G has to match I would think Iowa State would have the choice between the 2. Having close away games would be ideal again. Drive to Nebraska, Missouri, etc

The first part is never going to happen and ISU going to the Big 10 is even less likely.

They could even do something similar to this however not merge. They could negotiate their media rights/tv channel together to cover a lot of the nation. Perhaps require a P12-B12 challenge for all sports.

But how would people tell us apart since we have (basically) the same uniforms?

This whole Big 12 expansion business is just plain whacky and seemed to be run by a bunch of people who's egos think they know what they are doing more than they actually know what they are doing. Its unfortunate we are just along for the ride.

So the two most recent experts on conference realignment are a gopher fan and a highlander?

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!

So who gets cut? We have 22 schools...WV is the obvious #1 choice to get left out...and guess who looks like #2 on an island all by itself? While I do like the idea of a merger...we could easily be left out of that equation.

Would they leave off Baylor and let Baylor go to the SEC? I can't imagine Texas wanting any more representation in the SEC to poach recruits. And if the adding Nebraska thing is true...then who ELSE gets left off? I would think all of the PAC12 schools would be safe? I don't see any way this doesn't blow up into lawsuits if any current Power5 schools get left behind...heck i can still see ways the schools from the smaller conferences sue if there is a breakaway down the road to a 64 or 80 team "league".

i'd rather merge with the ACC and make the most powerful basketball conference the world would ever see.
