So now that we are into the quarterfinals, what would it take to get this thread back to talking about the World Cup and not US youth soccer? We have 6 potentially great games remaining. Can we talk about that and move the rest somewhere else?

Effectively women's soccer was invented in the United States. We are decades ahead of most other countries. It isn't even close.Yeah it must be regional, because in the DSM metro there are literally hundreds of teams playing tournies every weekend. Ankeny little league numbers are way down from pre Covid but there are still about 800 kids every year.

Oh yeah I know I was just making that point about the top players and the NBANone of those players are from the same country though.
England and Norway is easily the best game left, very exited for that one. Kinda a joke that Argentina just gets Switzerland at this stage. So now that we are into the quarterfinals, what would it take to get this thread back to talking about the World Cup and not US youth soccer? Do the math again on the number of quarterfinal games.3 QF

No one cares about the 3rd place game.

I think Spain is going to handle Belgium pretty easily. I think with the expansion of the tourney they really need to think about reseeding some of these matchups

Not sure and totally agree but man some of these paths are insanely easy and don’t feel right. Not sure if it’s from the expanded field or just from having 3 home countries. What are you reseeding to though? World rankings or group stage finish? If you use world rankings, that diminishes the group stage. If you use group results, that puts an extra penalty on teams randomly drawn into a difficult group. I don’t like reseeding, if there’s an upset, that team deserves the benefit what that brings.
