10" over a 48 hour period is a 500 year storm, from an engineering perspective.
This sucks. We moved our kids' cars out of the street just in time. They would be flooded right now.
I think one or two of my neighbors might be getting water in their basement, and they're on vacation. It's all the way up to their garages. Can't walk across the waist high river in the street to find out if that's what's going on.
The gauge on Ioway Creek just north of Stange/13th has gone up 7.5 feet in the last 24 hours.

Backyard is a lake with 5” in the guage. 13th and Dayton was/is closed. Flooding on Ferndale just west of the mall.

I used to live on Ferndale. That area is set up to flood. I have a feeling we will be seeing lots of dumpsters in the area getting rid of basement items within the next few days.
NWS going with crest <11ft, which wouldn't be too remarkable. However upstream gauges are still rising.
North Ames here. Had water in the basement this morning, which isn't unusual. What IS unusual is that it made it over to the finished side. Mostly just throw rugs that got wet, everything was pretty much off the floor enough. It looked like the storm drains backed up, judging by the corner and all the yard bits that accumulated in a large circle in yards, and prevented the sump pump from expelling water for a certain amount of time. So, I have some work to do this morning (already started, but taking a break - had to go buy a mop I could wring out). <sigh>
I got from the mall to Lowe’s this morning no problem, no standing water or anything. I think some roads are bad, but you can still get from one side of the city to the other.

We were trying to get water out with a bucket, but there is just too much, the entire floor is under like a few inches of water (thankfully it didn't overtake the power outlets). Thinking about getting a plumber, but it seems like the city water lines is completely backed up, in which case I'm not sure how much the plumber can help.
Good news is the water level does not seem like it is increasing. And yes we turned off the power for the basement.
