***Official 2026 NCAA Tournament Thread***

DeVries is a huge downgrade from McCollum. DeVries won at Drake with his kid that was a high recruit and some P5 fallback transfers in the ****** Valley.

After they fired Fran I was hoping Iowa would get DeVries and not McCollum.
And Darian never won a regular season title while having the best roster in the league for 3 years.

He's WAAAAAY overbaked

What would you have proposed instead? Houston was the top 2, so they got the closest region. Florida was the last 1, so they got last "choice" of regions.
For the #1 to be closest to home since they were the highest seeded team. Seems simple to me. It is the South region after all and Florida is pretty far south

Exactly. Read it again.

I’m a Cyclone fan. DeVries is my platonic ideal of Hawkeye TJ.

Iowa definitely appears to have got the Xs and Os grinder coach.
Indiana was an old and experienced team and they were so mediocre this year.

So, move the whole region to Florida? You know these are set years ahead of time, right?

It's the classic "we know we don't have as much talent as you" approach in basketball. The more talented team will likely pull away when there's lots of possessions, so limit possessions and hope for the best.

Mike Fratello's Cavs did it in the 1990s NBA for about five years with some modest success.
Butler made back to back championship games playing very similar.

It's stupid for a 2 seed to have homecourt advantage over a 1 seed. What's the point of "rewarding" a team a 1 seed if they have to play on the road to get to a Final 4. I don't know, they should figure out a way for it to make sense.
If Iowa State was the 1 seed and had to go on the road in a regional final, how would you feel about it?

I hope you can will McCollum to UNC and DeVries to Iowa into existence. Make it happen.
Now that is a better Hawkeye hypothetical.

Would you rather Iowa hire DeVries to replace McCollum after this year and lose to Arizona or for McCollum to stay at Iowa for 15 years and beat Houston?
