You know what we’re up to this year by chance? Doubt we’re that close to that but damn we’ve had a lot.

Quick google shows Ames at 32. 44 inches as of the 27th, average for the city is 22.23. It hard to get a state wide average because the rains have varied so much. Hell it varies a lot here in Ames, from the airport, the official rain gauge to my area in N, Ames.

Buy a couple mini goats they will keep your lawn mowed. And you can charge parents $10 so their kids can pet your goats.

My HOA does not allow farm animals unless you were grandfathered in. Dogs already crap enough in the back, hate to think how much more a couple of goats would add to that amount.

True, but the goats would help with weed control as well as keeping the lawn cut.

About every summer I get back to eastern Iowa a few times and can wade the area rivers by mid July for fishing and even paddle upstream a bit.

I'm not sure if that will even happen by Labor Day at this rate.

Update on Saylorville. Will handle everything well. Downstream, moderate flooding along the Des Moines River to Red Rock is expected. Even at that, impacts to property are a minimum.

My experience is that forecast generally overreacts after a big rain event before normalizing in the coming days. Given the long-term forecast (dry), I am surprised they are even releasing that much while the Racoon is high

Today‘s new Army Corps’ forecast is for Lake RedRock to rise about ten more feet and peak about August 9th. Makes sense with the big rain in the Raccoon River Valley this time.
