If the Grand Ave underpass was flooded, then I could see the need for an ark. Just drove on Grand and it’s not closed. Sump pump is working though!
Yet another 2" in Ankeny last night. I have never mowed this much in late July.

My lawn, which always sucks, is super thick/plush this year with these regular rains.
There are some years where I have to mow only once in July due to no rain. Not the case this year.
Generally have had a 6+ week period of minimal to no mowing from July into August a lot of the time. Still only about once a week this year even with all the rain. Last two mows have damn near killed me with the humidity.
I put down fertilizer three weeks ago and now I lowered my mower a couple notches to cut down mowing so often.
We got back from Florida Monday night and the yard looked like a jungle. Not sure what happened with the mowing company I contacted to mow while we were gone, but our yard did not get mowed for the past two weeks. It took me twice as long to mow, it was so long and thick. I picked up so much grass with the lawn sweep I felt like I was baling hay. Generally I get it half full, yesterday I had to empty it three times and continue sweeping. Our rain gauge was full at 6 inches when I checked it while I was mowing.
I can never remember a year when it's been this wet and we are still mowing in late July like we are in June.
