West Ames also, didn't get the alert on any of our 3 phones. Woke up when I heard the sirens.i think we were *just* outside of the warning zone
I just happened to be up (heard rain and thunder and needed to shut a window) and hadn’t turned my phone off last night. It was in another room.
Sirens just went off in Grimes. We aren't in the path but no complaints from me. That stuff looks scary.
Phone went off on Ankeny. I was half asleep and thought it said tornado emergency but watching tv it's clearly not a PDS
What a stupid way to start a Saturday. Woke 3 sleeping children (who appeared to be ready to sleep in for a while) and took them down to the basement.

Same boat. 11 year old will go back to sleep, but 2 and 3 year old, no shot.
Sitting in my 13 year old son’s basement bedroom while he’s trying to go back to sleep and my 6 year old is running on the treadmill saying he wants breakfast. I guess we’re up too. Lol
Channel 13 basically zoomed in on the top of our house though. Not much choice.
Iowa is well known for it raining every day in July.

Central Hancock county with 4 inches of rain. Hearing south hancock got more.
I thought the young 13 weather guy did a great job. Neat to hear explanation of colors on the radar, winds, etc.

The KCCI guy was less good. He said at one point, “we weren’t really ready for severe weather this morning”. Think they were a little understaffed and caught off guard.
