***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

Do you say the same to towns that use them as noon whistle? We would use them for fire calls up in NE Iowa to.
The fire siren pulses. The tornado siren is constant. Pretty sure that is pretty universal. My hometown will only sound the tornado siren if there is a tornado on the ground.

Don’t post on here much anymore but I do like this thread for weather discussions. What’s the deal with Wednesday? Local forecasters keep mentioning possible accumulating snow. And the weather channel app now says watching a potential winter storm. But I can’t find any substantial numbers as to how much. Weather Underground says it’s going to be mostly rain. AccuWeather now shows maybe 3” of snow. Is there any consensus?

I know a family whose house was destroyed in a tornado in 2000 and 2008. In 2000, they rebuilt the exact same house (it was relatively new). In 2008, they rebuilt a different house.

I recommend reading the National Weather Service forecast discussion. 4 days out is still pretty early, but they do a good job explaining what's coming and how it might affect the weather.

Too far away to say anything for sure. Spring storms in Iowa almost always have that steep snow cutoff where snow transitions into rain. Where that cutoff occurs hampers snow totals significantly.

Ugh, trying to get to Wisconsin on Wednesday...might have to go slow and add a couple hours into the drive.
