***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

I don't know what schools you are around but the earliest around here are 2:30-2:45 (starting at 8 or a tad before) and the high school goes until 4PM I believe.
Johnston HS goes 7:45-2:50, elementary is 8:45-3:35. They considered swapping them a couple years ago but didn't - don't remember if that was due to backlash or 'studies' showing optimum times.

I thought the studies suggested HS should be later, but the parents were concerned about elementary kids waiting for the bus in the dark.
 
Asuming everything has to come together, but this has 1974 Ohio Valley outbreak written all over it down in Mizzou, Arkansas and Illinois.
 
Sirens just went off in urbandale. Anyone have any insight? Wasn't that windy, and nothing showing on radar that would prompt that.

My wife called and said the same in Ankeny. They've been doing warning shots with the sirens lately when severe weather is coming.

You mean other than the fact that there's a storm with 70 mph wind gusts tracking right along the west side of Urbandale.

When I posted, the radars were not showing anything that close to the west metro. Looks like it popped another front in front of the main one that wasn't shown when I looked.
