***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

Any updates on the timing for tomorrow? We are driving back from NE Iowa to Ankeny. The last I saw is it should just be wet in the morning but shifting towards freezing around 12.

Winter Storm Watch , Sunday morning to Sunday night. 2-4” plus 50 mph winds. From NWS. Looks like this watch covers the area around Mason City to Spencer north of HWY 3.

Almost out of the worst month of the year. December always gets my vote for worst. Shortest days of the year, and it always seems like we have this foggy gloomy crap for some of it. Think I’ll prefer the blizzard to this.

No way, January is the worst. Usually the worst temps of the year and the knowledge that warmer weather is still months away.

Even though I agreed, I think February is the worst. Not because of the worst temps, but because I am freaking sick and tired of it and want it to end, and its not ending in February.

December is even further from warmer temps though. I am probably in extreme minority though that prefers January
Yeah but the "wear and tear" hasn't set in for me in December. And normally we still have several nice days in December. By mid/late February I am fit to be tied; those nice days become pretty sparse.

YMMV of course.

The key to dealing with the crappy weather in Iowa, is to leave the state for a vacation or two get away from it. We are currently in Dallas, and next month it will be a cruise for 14 days. Best weather in Iowa during winer is when I am out of Iowa.
