***Official 2025 Weather Thread***

Not great Trick-or-Treat weather in Twin Cities. 40° and light rain.

Might have some left over candy this year. Ran out last year and had to turn off lights at front of house.

I like being more thorough with people I like and Cyclones are peoples I like. So here you go.

For Saturday. Rain turning to snow north quickly. Looking at before sunrise arrival in NW Iowa with snow. Mostly 8a-8p setup otherwise west to east across the state. Rain more dominant south of I80 with a quick change to snow or all snow north.

Sloppy accumulations. 1-2" possible mainly north of I80 through northern Iowa and into southern Minnesota. A few in NW Iowa could see 3" as they dive into snow first before the sun comes up. Accumulations tend to be mainly on grass/elevated surfaces. This could be a scenario where you see an inch or two and neighbors a few miles away don't. We're right under the temperature threshold for accumulations.

Des Moines Metro may be split with accumulations north side and none south side. Honestly expect totals to slash rather sharply near a stagnant rain/snow line somewhere around I80.

Eastern Iowa may be underdone a bit in the contouring. Could see a minor accum.

Very warm scenario here. Air. Ground. Daytime. The intensity of precip will help cool the lower levels down just below that point. I think we can overcome it. Ground temp today around 50° 4" down. May take a while to cool to the point of accumulations on roads. For this on the travel scene, I'm really thinking roads stay mainly wet through most of the day. Watch the bridges and culverts though, that could trip us up. The later we go with snow, the more likely the slush it will become. Honestly with treatment though... it shouldn't be too bad.

Still fluid but happy the way the trend continues to hold in the data. Will update again early Saturday morning.

Stout Northwest Wind on Sunday, Gusts 30-40 mph. Some snow showers still wrapping around early and then diurnally driven into the afternoon. Could get a few more skiffs.

This is a scenario that... if this was January. We'd see a good 4-6" of snow, then it'd blow all around with major impacts.

If you appreciated the update, I'd appreciate a follow on the socials in sig.

Go Clones!
