*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

This slump is worse "having" to listen to Zach Zaidman again today. Pat has been gone a lot lately and it is a tough listen.

Watching the interview with Kyle Tucker on Marquee. I thought maybe he didn’t like Chicago or being a Cub, but I think dude is just socially awkward as hell lol
I think it is actually the opposite; I think he likes the team and city. As you mentioned, I think his personality is that he never really gets too high or too low. Which is why seeing him so frustrated on the field means he is probably in his head a bunch as of late.

Man, I wish the cubs would pull a similar deal with PCA as the Red Sox are doing with Roman Anthony. Granted it is a bit misleading because all they are really doing is avoiding arbitration early in that deal in exchange for a few years at 20 mil at the end but if PCA continues at this pace that would be a steal.

They tried that back in April, but is was only a $75MM extension. I would say PCA and his camp were wise to turn that down.

Maybe could have gotten it done if they hadn't completely lowballed him.

Rumors are he wants $500+ million and I don't see any way the Cubs give him that or anywhere close.
That is a crazy number, based on Tucker going to be 29 entering next season. Tucker will get paid, but IMO if he gets $40M+ AAV it will include player/club opt outs within the first 5-6 years of the deal.

No reason the Cubs shouldn't do a similar deal with some big name FA this off-season. Just be willing to give the player and club opt-out clauses.

Needed that one. Now hopefully the bats keep it going against the Dead Birds this weekend.

No one is going to be giving Tucker 500m. Just isn’t going to happen. He hasn’t had the huge breakout season that would warrant that this offseason. Unless he just completely goes off in the playoffs. Which I doubt happens.
