*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

A 4th outfielder who is rule 5 eligible and 18 yo rookie ball SS are a dime a dozen. Definitely expendable for a piece that could help us win.

Not sure how this is leverage. If Jed calls another GM and says we aren’t overpaying for pitching because we’re good with Michael Soroka he will get laughed off the phone
It’s my understanding the Cubs wanted (needed) 2 SPs this deadline. Soroka can be the SP, but the Cubs also would like to use him in more of a flex bullpen role.

Reports are indicating Houser and Biebers asking prices are stupid right now. Soroka now doesn’t force the Cubs to overpay for a starter and ideally get them to lower their demand

Why? Backing off from leading RBI man in the league? We badly need another right handed power hitter.
Seattle had to give up their #1 prospect plus two other prospect arms for him. Jed isn’t and wasn’t willing to do that.

Cubs likely would have had to give Caissie,Wiggins and probably like a Ben Brown for him

I would trade 3 unproven players for the leading RBI man in the league. None of them are can’t miss prospect

Not true.
• D-backs receive: 1B Tyler Locklear (Mariners’ No. 9 prospect by
@MLBPipeline
), RHP Hunter Cranton (No. 16), RHP Juan Burgos (No. 17)

My guesses for current roster transactions Friday or Saturday

Amaya activated, McGuire DFA’d
Soroka added, Kriske optioned
Kittrege added, Pressly DFA’d

Mmk...Hopefully for a bag of balls.

This guy squares up as the Flexen replacement as I see it. And that's a good thing, we need a multi-inning guy back in the pen. No problem giving up Franklin for him, I've watched him play in Des Moines several times now; not impressed.

I am hoping for a big splash trade for a good starting pitcher but expecting to be disappointed with what we actually do today as not sure Jed has the appetite to send one of the top prospects it will likely take to get that kind of pitching.

If Caissie is not traded today I would hope he gets a taste of the big leagues this season at some point. Thought he should of late last year but they just didn't want to add him to the 40 man at that point apparently and gave that opportunity to Alcantara instead. If they do acquire a bench upgrade like Castro will be interesting to see who is the odd man out especially with Amaya getting closer to returning. Not sure they can really keep 3 catchers around and they definitely won't if they give Mo an extended look up this time but I would guess he may be headed back to Iowa tomorrow after the trade deadline moves are completed. If they get Castro Berti is expendable too IMO, only on a 1 year $2 mil deal
