*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Help Tucker pack his belongs as soon as the bus gets home. Send Happ packing too. Put PCA at the bottom of the order until he can learn to hit for contact. Prioritize hitting for average this off season

Here's a cool stat, Tucker is a career .237 hitter in the playoffs and Dansby is a career .238 hitter. I know it gets tougher and everything is magnified but that's really bad.

Your stars are supposed to show up in the playoffs.

Instead, the Cubs got .100 out of $20 mil Ian Happ, A below average Kyle Tucker, and a strikeout machine Swanson. Add in that Shaw had 2 hits the entire postseason and you have half a roster that couldn’t hit its way out of a paper bag.

Actually surprising the Cubs got this far.

Shaw, Swanson, Tucker, and Happ were really bad. It’s one thing to not get hits…it’s another thing to not make good (or any) contact. I suppose to some degree you can live with that from your 8 and 9 hitters, but especially for your middle of the order guys Happ and Tucker, you just can’t have that. I really like Happ, and I don’t discount the fact that he’s been a loyal Cub for his whole career. I’d be willing to see him back if the Cubs can improve in other areas so that he’s your #8 hitter, but I can’t see bringing Tucker back.

Shaw really needs to start hitting next season or I’m going to start getting concerned. He’s a great glove at 3rd, but I’d rather have a mediocre glove and a reliable hitter who can hit .270 and above and drive some runs in.

You just can’t afford this many guys who hit .200. Nico is literally the only guy who can hit for average. Going to require a philosophical change away from prioritizing power, which just has not worked.

Now that we've had a night to sleep on that ****fest what's everyone's expectations for next year?

Pitching should be solid. I think you Shota will be back so you hsve a rotation of Shota, Steele, Cade, Taillon, and Boyd. Hopefully Rea will be back then you use him and Assad to spot start and eat innings.

Bullpen we'll at least have Palencia back. I'm concerned though Pomeranz, Keller, and Theilebar will get better offers elsewhere. Porter Hodge will be someone to keep an eye on as he was really good in 2024 and injured off and on this year.

We should be elite on D again. We have 2 budding superstars in PCA, and Busch. Tucker will be gone and it will be difficult to replace a guy with that kind of OPS. I think Suzuki, Kelly, and Dansby regress at the plate next year. I think the bench will be completely revamped. No more Turner, Castro, or Santana. Not sure where Moises fits into all this either as Amaya should be fully healthy again.

Pitching should be solid but I'm really concerned with what this offense will look like without Tucker. I'm thinking maybe 86 wins and another wildcard series.

Bellinger has already opted out. The Yankees will go hard after Tucker next year and then resign Bellinger if they don't get him.

Zero percent chance this ownership will want to pay the salary he will demand.

The last sentence is the problem. I've said all summer that if they didn't bring Tucker back i was done with this team until ownership charges. That had little to do with the player. I just want them to show they're serious about putting a great team on the field. I suppose if they spend that money on someone else I'll give them a shot.

We all know what's going to happen though, they'll tell their media cronies that they put a "competitive offer" in for Tucker but didn't want to overpay and instead went back to the bargain bin to fill out the roster.
