Someone who has proven experience and is not just simply ahead of being scouted.Based on Suzuki looking horrible. Look at his second half stats plus MB has looked comfortable at the plate from day one. So tell me who else you think on our bench you want DHing?
A they hit a dinger right at Rizz???????????????????Someone who has proven experience and is just simply ahead of being scouted.
Yep...how many players have you seen look great in their first 30 ABs in the league, and then the rest of the league finds their weakness and they fall off? Give the kid sometime before you anoint him the future DH of this team.A they hit a dinger right at Rizz???????????????????
Not willing to go that far. But maybe he should platoon at DH with a healthy Suzuki over the remainder of the season. I would do the same with PCA and Alcantara over the next couple weeks.Really believe Mo Baller is our best option at DH now and moving forward
I’m saying in 2026 we don’t have a better option at DH. The difference between MB and most is he’s a very simple A to B swing those are the guys that avoid long slumps because all he tried to do is explode to impact. Honestly his swing is Mark Grace with more pop.Yep...how many players have you seen look great in their first 30 ABs in the league, and then the rest of the league finds their weakness and they fall off? We'll see how it pans out. I always say the best players are able to adjust to scouting adjustments. It's too soon to know if MB can do that.I’m saying in 2026 we don’t have a better option at DH. He’s our only hope for an impact bat at DH. So I hope he gets every opportunity to be the guy. We'll see how it pans out. I always say the best players are able to adjust to scouting adjustments. It's too soon to know if MB can do that.
Mo is still a project at catcher. Definitely not ready for big leagues at that position yet.Not willing to go that far. But maybe he should platoon at DH with a healthy Suzuki over the remainder of the season. I would do the same with PCA and Alcantara over the next couple weeks.
I haven't seen Ballesteros play with the Iowa Cubs to know if he is a liability at catcher. But it drives me nuts when people look at his build and assume he's not athletic enough to catch. Cubs studio guy Cole Wright jumped into those stereotypes during yesterday's postgame interview with Ballesteros. Focusing on his speed to leg-out the triple and then jumping into Ballestoros losing some weight since going back down to Chicago.
I look at players like Kirk (Bluejays) and Pages (Cardinals) and see guys with atypical bodies who can still field their positions. And in the case of Kirk, one of the better hitters in baseball.
Based on what I’ve seen at Des Moines at least, I think you could live with 30-35 games per year for Mo at catcher. He’s miles better at it than Schwarber was when they contemplated the same type of usage 10 years ago now.Mo is still a project at catcher. Definitely not ready for big leagues at that position yet.
