*** Official 2025 Chicago Cubs Thread***

There is no way for you or I to know if him pitching is risking his long-term. Obviously we don't want to do that, but if he's healthy then he should pitch.
They said it caused him to alter his mechanics. So we may not know absolutely that’s enough to not throw him till he can operate in his normal release.

Brewers with all of the pressure, Cubs coming off facing some of the best arms in baseball and still winning, just beat the Brewers 4 of 5 last month…I like our chances.
I like your spunk, but it was just 3 of 5. But hey, that’s all we need

It's not worth risking his long-term, let him sit and cheer for the good guys. Milwaukee series is just best of 5, he'd likely only pitch one game for 5-6 innings at most in that series. We can roll with Assad or Rea instead, they're not awful.
thought I read he won't come off the il until the 5th game.

Looks like Rea tomorrow with others needing rest. Then I'd imagine Boyd gets game 2. I'd prefer to see Jamo for game 3 instead of Shota.
Would have to see what the roster looks like for NLDS but assuming Assad is on it I would have preferred Rea with Assad and rested bullpen then Boyd and Taillon. Taillon had the best start of the 3 WC games IMO. Shota when he is on is tough to hit but lately he's really struggled in early innings.

I like our chances in this series as the Brewers pitching is not as good as the Padres.

CBS has him as probable for game five. Never seen a team throw five different starters in a series
Don't pay attention to CBS probables. They are usually wrong. It also says the Rea will start 2, Imanaga 3, and Taillon 4, which won't happen.

He wouldn't even be eligible to pitch until game 5, so pointless to put him on the roster.
Not understanding your logic. Seems to me a chance to throw your #1 in a series decider is worth a roster spot especially with all the off days to rest the bullpen

Zero chance the Cubs even consider playing a series with one less roster spot available for the first 4 games.
