I'd think this is being pushed from the Cubs side. Make it seem like they really don't want to part with Ballesteros and eventually "reluctantly" include him in a deal to make the other team feel like they're getting more of a win. Love the bat, but he's going to be DH who can maybe catch part time. You gladly trade him as a center piece of a trade for controllable pitching.
Has to be it right? If we're not going to deal caissise which is a guess and not give up Ballesteros who did we think we were going to get?
 
Pretty much every contender for Castro has found an alternative which pretty much just leaves the Cubs.

So I’ll almost guarantee Houser and Castro are Cubs.
 
I expect Hoyer to tell us how great these two pitchers are and we now have the pieces for a championship run.
