I lived through the tornado that destroyed much of Ankeny in 1974. The 50th anniversary of that event will be 4 days from now.
Anyway, the tornado struck around 10:30pm, right after Connie McBurney (the weather person for Channel 8 KCCI) announced the all clear for central Iowa. So much for the technology back then.
