I live in way NW Clive and got 3.44" in about 45 minutes
There will be quite a bit of water coming down the rivers from up here. Most of mine goes north into Minnesota and ends up dumping into the Mississippi at the twin cities.
Is this from Ambient Weather? Because that's what I have and I'm about 99% sure that 1.32" in Waukee is my station.
It looks like this network to me.
I had 8/10ths in our gauge in North Ames this morning, we were in Gilbert watching our grand daughter playing ball when it started to roll in. Got home just as the wind was coming up and starting to rain.
There was a PDS warning in Maryland a little bit ago. Yes, Maryland.
On this date in 1980 storms dropped softball size hail with 80 mph winds just south of DSM in the morning. In the afternoon another storm dropped a small tornado near Drake University and it produced minor damage until it lifted near the 2nd Avenue bridge.
Many of you will find this tough to believe, and I'm sure it doesn't even apply to most of Polk County, but the DSM Airport is once again below the yearly average for precipitation.
And in the fall of 1980, we got hail just as soybeans were ready to harvest. Mine were green enough because they were planted late so I didn’t have much damage. Some fields were a total loss.
And because it's the "official" reporting station......the farmers just outside the city looking at ponds in their fields will have to hear on WHO radio how once again central Iowa is dryer than normal.
Jumping to tomorrow..........on June 7th, 1984 about 21 tornado's hit the state of Iowa (probably more with today's tech) the worst being one that was on the ground for almost 3 hours and covered nearly 127 miles from northern Missouri to near Sigourney. It killed 2 and injured 63.
A few hours later it did it again in Wisconsin dropping the F5 that hit Barneveld killing 36 and injuring over 200.
