They are surge protectors for your breaker box. Will take the zap instead of the breakers. I have them in most of my stuff. A couple hundred bucks but once something gets hit by lightning it never seems to be completely right again
Happened in Johnston, too. Me, while starting the grill, “I didn’t see this coming.” And I proceeded to shut down that grill.
And crack open another beer for good measure.
The storm that just went through here just went tornado warned. Thought about it, but it's too dark...
It has stormed 4+ times here today. Keep initiating over us, fun to watch them build. Decent hail (2nd hail of the day) on a warned one an hour ago. But one that was forming just east had some weird rotation as it was forming. See there's a couple tornado warnings east now. This was further north but not surprised. I took pics cause it looked very sus even as a little thing

Just blasted through Cedar Rapids now. We were sitting watching TV when it suddenly started blasting what seemed like 60-mph winds. My wife freaked out and insisted we needed to move our plants that we bought Sunday up next to the house so they don’t blow over.
Had no clue at all that was coming.

We were outside until a few min ago planting flowers. Wife got back around 6pm from her annual trip to Kalona. I'm in the garage now. It's windy

At one point last summer in July or August when everything was dead and brown my neighbor was out mowing the little green circle underneath his crabapple tree.
Call me insane all you want, but I don't have the patience to go over my lawn twice each time I mow. Not to mention trying to never cut more than 1/3 of the total length of the lawn.
i have a rider, so not very back breaking.
I've held off on getting a rider, still use a self-propelled push mower (it's exercise), on a lot that's around 1/3 of an acre. This time of year with this kind of weather, the grass grows like crazy and if I let it go too long my mower struggles getting through it, I have to back it up and hit the same spot a few times, and the mulch chute gets clogged so I have to stop, unclog it, restart... just a pain.

Wife asked for something that would go from zero to 200 in under a few seconds. So I bought her a scale.
What free radar service do you at home meteorologists use? I think it's neat to look at inbound and outbound velocities, but don't know what site provides it.
I pay for RadarScope. Best $9.99 I’ve ever spent. Especially on a day like today with a major outbreak under way.
