You must not have been as dry as us this summer and fall. I'd take 2' of snow for groundwater's sake.

Totally agree. There are farm ponds in my neck of the woods that are bone dry. Never seen the bottoms of these things in my life. The spring that feeds my parent’s pond must be a good one, because while theirs is definitely low, it’s not nearly as dire as others around here. Give me all the snow.

There's some local tile lines that started running, but we have all sorts of creeks and farm ponds that dried up or were very close.

7-10 for Floyd.

It's the 40 MPH wind that I am not excited about.

Snow may help some ponds/creeks but with the impending temps coming freezing the ground little if any of this snow will make it to the groundwater

Snow is a fantastic insulator. Put 10" of snow on top of this ground with little frost in it and you'll be surprised how much will be absorbed when it melts.

I agree on the insulation factor but I'm foreseeing the ground freezing before any of this melts

When does Houston arrive for the game? Would be ideal if we could beat them and they are forced to stay an additional day to enjoy it. Our luck, they don't get here in time and that game is scrunched into the sched to overburden the team later on

Same goes for Ames. People joke about the bubble thing but I can't tell you how many times I've watched snow and rain split around the city in the last 10 years.

Rain especially! It's like clockwork.
