Ankeny was already out of school tomorrow and has an announcement up its web site that its offices are closed due to weather.

I know, my oldest is going to be bummed because he was reveling in the fact that he didn't have to go to school tomorrow but his younger brothers had to go to daycare. Now we're all going to be home with him, and he's going to have to deal with his younger brothers bugging him

I wonder when we last had 2 snow storms with 10 inches or more over 5 days?

Of this Top-10 list, the only two that had multiple, separate 6"+ events were 1923, and 1893.

1888 was 17" all in one day.

The top spot contains the Des Moines single day record, with 19.8 on New Year's Day of 1942.

I know my kids' school does early outs every Wednesday. It would have been a 2 hour delay but with them already getting out early it wouldn't have counted for a full day either way so they just canceled.

Not sure how old they are but there’s still time to get to target and get a Nintendo or a PlayStation and a few iPads. Modern parenting is modern parenting.

ISU is partially closing.

Dear Iowa State Community,


Iowa State University will partially
close on Friday, Jan. 12, due to a blizzard warning issued
through Saturday. All winter session classes will meet virtually as scheduled
at the discretion of the instructor.


Supervisors should provide maximum flexibility for employees to work
remotely or take leave. If remote work is not an option, consider potential
training opportunities that employees can complete remotely.


Supervisors in police, public safety, security, power plant, food service,
health care, animal care and critical maintenance should make arrangements for
team members to report safely to campus. Employees who cannot make it to campus
should contact their supervisors.


During the partial closure, all campus buildings will be locked. If you need
access, please contact the ISU Department of Public Safety at 515-294-4428.
Students moving back into the residence halls will still have access on
Friday.


Thielen Student Health Center will be open on Friday. The Student Counseling
Center will be open for crisis appointments.
